At first it was a game. She teased around with him and they shared countless laughs. She wasn't sure when it happened, but one day she felt friendship was no longer enough. Why? Did he feel the same? Her friends told her that he did, but she couldn't bring herself to do anything about it. "He doesn't feel the same" she kept repeating to herself every time she saw that heart-wrenching smile. So she stayed silent. She felt closer and closer to him everyday. All the laughs and the jokes only made her love him more. He was all she thought about. All she cared about. He never knew. So he goes on to date and meet girls who aren't afraid to say how they feel. She sits by silently, pretending to be happy for him. "That should be me" she told herself every time she saw him with someone else.
Times changed. They went to different schools and saw less and less of each other. He still kept in touch. "Maybe he does like me" she would always question. But she still stayed silent. But one day, he stopped. Stopped caring. Stopped talking. Stopped being there. Stopped their friendship. "Did he find out? I knew he wouldn't feel the same." But she stilled loved him, so she held on. She didn't want to lose him and all the times they had shared together. So she tried to hold them together. Always being the first one to spark a conversation that never seemed to go anywhere. A conversation that he never seemed to want to be apart of. She grew tired. Tired of trying. Tired of caring. Tired of trying to hold together their friendship. But she still loved him, so she never let go. She never gave up.
Her friends told her to forget him. "Move on. You deserve so much better." they would say, but she couldn't. She wouldn't. Memories would make her cry, but she never let it show. She knew. She knew she had to let him go. She knew it would be painful and hard, but there was no other way. So she stopped trying to get him to talk to her and she just lived her life. It was hard. Thoughts of him made her knees weak and her heart ache. But somehow, someday, it got easier. She barely thought of him, and when she did, she didn't feel a thing. She would just smile and be glad that he helped make her into who she is today. She knows they are still "friends", and she will always be there for him, and she will never forget him, but she will never shed another tear becauseā¦
SHE IS OVER HIM.
