Still haunted
By Alasse Fefalas
The corridor was so long. So many doors. He checked every one he passed, not finding her inside. His chest was hurting, from fear and from exertion. "Alexis, where are you?" He said to himself.
Another door, empty. And another door, empty. Suddenly, he heard her voice a few doors down, "Richard!"
Pushing himself, he ran down to the source. Another shout guided him to the correct door, "DAD!"
Grabbing the doorknob, he was stopped by a shout from where he had come from, "Rick!" It was Kate's voice, but there was no one there. Shaking his head, he turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
Blood. That was the first thing he took in. His breath was stuck in his throat. There, on the floor, laid the bodies of his daughter and mother. Tears sprung to his eyes. "No. No. No. No. No," he repeated to himself.
"Rick," Kate said from behind him. Turning, he saw her standing in the corridor. To his horror, there was a bright red dot trained on her chest.
"Kate!" He shouted, attempting to lunge to her but he couldn't move. "Kate, move!"
"Rick!" She said, not moving from the spot.
"Move! Move, dammit!" He said desperately, waving his arms at her, his feet stuck to the ground.
She still stood there, unmoving. A shot rang out from afar and Kate crumpled to the ground. He ran to her frantically. Her face was white, her chest bloodied and red.
"No, Kate," he moaned to himself. "Alexis and mother too... no..."
"Rick," Kate called, lips unmoving. "Castle!"
Castle sat up on the bed with a start. Brown eyes were staring at him with worry. Relief flooded him as he pulled Beckett towards him. "You're alive," he whispered into her ear.
"I'm fine, Rick. It was just a nightmare, " Kate said softly, wrapping her arms around him. "Alexis and Martha are fine as well. It was just a dream."
"How did you know?" Castle asked, pulling away slightly to look at her.
"You kept saying their names over and over. And you kept saying 'no' so I guessed," Beckett said, running her hands through his hair. "It's been happening more and more, hasn't it? These nightmares?"
Castle closed his eyes and rested his head on her chest, listening to the rythmatic beating of her heart. "Yes," he sighed.
"You're traumatized after Alexis got kidnapped. It's normal, Rick," Beckett said, laying a kiss on the top of his head. "Maybe you should go see a therapist."
"Mm," Castle breathed, slowly drifting back to sleep. "I'll make an appointment tomorrow..."
"I'll hold you to it," Beckett said. "Now sleep."
Castle nodded and fell asleep listening to Beckett's heartbeat.
A/N: I love Castle so much that I always felt that I couldn't write anything about it because I wouldn't do them (the characters) justice, but this idea had been stewing around my head for far too long. I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading! Reviews are much appreciated!
