It was a cold and rainy night when an orphan preteen girl was walking down the streets. Little did she know, she was being watched by four creatures who were not humans.

"That kid's all alone," The first figure said. "We should help her."

"Why should we?" The other figure asked.

"It's the right thing to do, that's why." The first figure said.

The kid was known as Mike Mazinsky who used to live in an orphanage, but she was now trying to find a place to call her own. Her pigtails dripped from the depressing rain as it seemed to feel her mood and try to comfort her like the lost parents she never knew she had. She thought about them all the time, but she was very young when they perished and she was all alone.

Suddenly, an enemy ninja dropped down in front of her which made her panic. However, before anything else could be said or done, the four figures soon appeared and took care of the ninja for her. Mike was often very brave, but since she was lost and scared alone in the cold rain, she felt very scared and just covered her eyes until it was all over.

"Are you okay?" One of the green creatures asked as the strange beings which were four of them walked over to her.

"Yeah, I'm okay..." Mike replied shallowly before asking. "W-Who are you guys?"

"We're the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," One of the figures told her. "Why are you out here all alone in the rain and the cold? Did you run away from home, where are your parents?"

Mike sighed sadly. "I'm an orphan."

The quartet gasped slightly in fear and despair.

"We were orphans too, you know." One of the turtles told her.

"Really?" Mike asked them.

"Yeah, but we were raised by Master Splinter," The other turtle replied. "Come on, you should come with us before you catch cold."

"Um... Thanks... Which one of you is which?" Mike asked once she recognized them better. "I heard stories about you guys from the other orphans."

"I'm Raphael." The red masked turtle said.

"I'm Donatello." The purple masked turtle said.

"I'm Leonardo." The blue masked turtle said.

"And I'm Michelangelo." The orange masked turtle concluded.

"That helps... At least your masks don't match." Mike weakly chuckled.

"Come on, we'll take you to April, she'll take care of you." Donatello comforted.

Mike then followed the four turtles while she shivered and sniffled as she sounded like she was beginning to catch a cold.

There was a brunette woman talking with what looked like a giant rat in a robe which surprised Mike at first.

"Hey, boys, want some pizza?" The brunette woman asked.

"Sure, but in a sec," Raphael said. "This kid needs some help."

"Oh, my, is it a street urchin?" The brunette woman asked.

"Sorta..." Michelangelo shrugged. "She says she don't got any parents."

"Oh, the poor dear... She looks so familiar though..." The brunette woman came over to Mike and felt her forehead. "Oh, my gosh, you're burning up!"

"I dont' feel so good, ma'am..." Mike sniffled before suddenly sneezing.

"Don't worry, Little One, we'll take care of you." Master Splinter comforted in an almost paternal way.

"Thanks..." Mike sniffled. "Say, aren't you April O'Neil?"

"That's me, now, you lay down here..." The brunette woman took off Mike's soaking wet jacket and wrapped her in a nice, warm blanket. "Let's get you some hot tea."

Mike sniffled. "I usually hate tea, but that sounds good right about now."

"If you're hungry, there's pizza, get some rest." April soothed as she felt like she knew Mike from somewhere, but she couldn't think of from where right now.
