"Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!" Though they are far away, I can hear their chants loud and clear from where I stand. I try hard to be as quiet as possible in coming closer.
A smile forms on my lips as I round the final corner. There he is. His appearance is deceiving. He looks old, but this is the youngest I've ever seen him. I remember this man well. How could I ever forget. After all, he is a pretty remarkable person.
Cautiously, I back away behind a wall, out of view. I wait a few minutes before chancing a look back round the corner. He's right in the thick of it. Surrounded by the metal, sphere adorned, robot- like creatures. I move back out of sight and close my eyes, focusing on steadying my breath. I know that will calm my racing heart.
I am standing so still that some, I hope, might mistake me for a statue. My back is pressed hard against the wall behind me. I leave my eyes closed and allow myself to get lost in my thoughts. I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen creatures like that before. Creatures who shout their battle cry over and over again, in near, if not perfect synchrony.
No, I finally decide. "No I've never seen these creatures before. Never in my life. At least, not until 20 minutes ago. Or however long it's been. It feels like hours since I first arrived. But in truth, it's probably only been 30 minutes at most.
I straighten up, open my eyes and take a deep breath. "Ok," I say, rubbing my palms together. "Let's do this." I walk purposefully back toward the voices. I stand quietly and watch a while. Unlike the last time I looked in on him, the Doctor seems to be handling the situation quite well. For now.
Then, as quickly as the Doctor had gained control, he's lost it again. Once more, they have him surrounded, and what's more, they're gaining on him. Up until now, I've been fairly well hidden. No one has noticed me yet. Not that there's many people around, but still... Task accomplished.
Now, I step out so that I'm taking up most of the doorway. The little army of metal robots do not even notice. Nor does the Doctor. I stand and wait patiently, hands on my hips. "You will be exterminated," one of the little robots announces, rolling in front of the others. Closer to the Doctor. I pick this moment to announce my presence. "Oh no you don't!" I say, loudly and clearly. The robots turn toward me, the Doctor following their gaze, wide eyed.
"Hello Sweetie," I say, a wide smile on my lips.
