AN: I'm reading Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass for school and my class had to create an Alice character for our own, so I thought I'd add in a missing moment in Wonderland where Alice meets her. Please read and enjoy (and a review would be nice, too)!
"Those people certainly have no idea of how to host a proper tea party," Alice thought to herself. She had just left said party and, following the Cheshire Cat's initial advice, was getting somewhere just by walking. As if thinking about him had been a calling, the Cat himself suddenly appeared, grin first then the rest of his body.
"Hello, again. Did you call? I usually don't make it a habit to respond to such requests, but I find you and your madness fascinating," the Cheshire Cat purred.
"I didn't, but… Wait, my madness? I'm certainly not mad. But is that woman over there?" Alice said. Behind the Cat, she had noticed an older woman, about the age of her governess, on her knees staring intently at the grass. At least Alice thought it was grass, though quite dead grass at that: it was very yellowed.
"That's the Dame Yonder. She's always looking at that spot of grass. No one knows why she finds it so interesting," the Cat said.
"Doesn't anyone think to ask her? She might appreciate the company; there doesn't appear to be anyone else around."
"Why don't you go to her and ask her yourself? Maybe you can get to her." With that the Cat slowly disappeared, leaving his large grin for last. Alice turned from where he used to be and started to walk towards… the Dame Yonder, was it?
Alice, after walking for a while, began to tire. She examined the distance between herself and the older woman and deemed it no shorter than it was when she first set off.
"Hello? Can you hear me?" she called to the woman. The Dame Yonder briefly looked up, but then dismissed the sound and returned to her inspection of the ground. Feeling a bit down-and-out about the blatant dismissal of her greeting, Alice tried again.
"Hello!" she called louder. At this the Dame Yonder looked up and noticed the girl standing a few yards away.
"Good day! Now, tell me, dearie, are there more blades than there were a minute ago? I could have sworn there were less a seconds ago, but now the green ones have gone and left me!" the Dame Yonder said.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about!" Alice shouted back to her (she was still just yards away but, no matter what Alice did, she could not get any closer), but the woman had already gone back to, well, whatever it was she was doing before. Alice looked at the Dame Yonder for a second to see if she would respond, but when none came she turned around and went back the way she had come from. After a short while, she passed the tree where she had seen the Cheshire Cat and kept walking until she came across three playing cards painting the roses on a white rose tree red.
