This is my take on The thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks. Don't worry, I love Booth and Brennan together. I just heard this song and really wanted to do it, but with Booth cheating on Brennan (or anyone).
Disclaimer: I don't own Bones
It was 3:30 in the morning. He was just now on his way back to his apartment. Back to Hannah. He could tell it was going to start to rain harder, but he didn't try to get home any faster. He never should have gone to her. How is he going to tell Hannah? Surely she'd be able to tell, right? He didn't even have a valid excuse. He just missed her.
Hannah had been up all night. He never said he would be out late, but it wasn't very unusual for him to be. She looked outside to see the storm brewing and hoped the storm was what was keeping him out. Each time thunder cracked, he became more and more nervous. She had a feeling of what was keeping him out, but she stayed by the phone and prayed that it was the weather.
He finally got home, around 4. He headed to the bedroom, thinking Hannah was asleep. Before he got very far, Hannah wraps her arms around him.
"Oh thank goodness! I was so worried, with the storm and you not being home! What kept you out?" Hannah hoped he would say he had paperwork, but when she smelled the perfume, she knew. She looked at Booth and he knew that she knew.
"It's not what you think." Booth tried to ease the situation. Tell Hannah the whole story, before she came up with her own ideas. That's what he wanted to do.
"What I think is that you have your partners perfume all over you and you came at four in the morning." Hannah had backed away from him. She couldn't believe it. She thought he was different.
"Listen. Yes, I was with Bones. But, Hannah, I didn't do anything." Booth tried to explain, but she had her own idea.
"What was so important that you couldn't wait until you saw her at work? That you had to go to her house late?"
"Hannah. Bones and I have been apart for seven months and we didn't exactly leave on the best terms. We haven't really had a welcome back chat except for as soon as we got back. She's my best friend. I need more than just a small chat with her after seven months. Yes, I could've waited until work but, we were doing paperwork. We hugged. That's it. Promise." Booth hoped she understood. Bones was more than just his partner. She was his best friend.
"Promise?" Hannah was so relieved. She should've known that he wouldn't cheat. She trusted him.
Booth just nodded. Happy that someone loved him back.
"Okay then. Well, I say that we should get some sleep. We both have work tomorrow."
A/N: Don't worry. I'm still a diehard Bones fan.
Also, if anyone has any songfics or ideas for Bones fics, but don't actually want to write them, I will! Just send ideas, and I will do them!
