It was exactly 11:30 pm, quiet, no movement nor whisper. I heard a creak in the floorboards, like someone was walking around the house. I walked down the main hallway where all the bedrooms were, I noticed that one door was slightly open, I could see two shadows on the door, and they were sitting down. I walked down towards the door, peaking around the door to see who was there. It was dark, the only light illuminated through the cracks of the blinds on the window.
It was Justin and Jarrod, talking quietly about certain things. I watched as Justin looked at Jarrod, not saying a word. Jarrod lay down on Justin's bed and Justin leaned over him, lying on his chest. Jarrod gulped and they both stared into each other's eyes. Justin closed his eyes, leaned in, next to Jarrod's ear and whispered: "Some people are worth melting for"? Jarrod smiled slightly as Justin moved over staring back into Jarrod's eyes. Justin leaned in and gave Jarrod a long kiss.
About ten seconds later Justin lay down next to Jarrod. They both looked into each other's eyes. Justin stood up off of the bed and faced his closet. Jarrod watched as he unbuttoned his shirt and took of his belt, his pants dropping to the ground. Wearing nothing but his underpants he climbed back into bed with Jarrod and kissed him again. Jarrod fell asleep on Justin's chest with Justin sleeping beside him with his arms wrapped around Jarrod.
I walked away closing the door behind me. I walked out to the front room and sat down in front of a photo album. Inside were pictures of all the adventures and events they had done together. I turned to page 394 and there was a post card from Jarrod to Justin. It was a picture of the Eiffel Tower. I turned it over and there was a letter, it read:
To the flour boy of my dreams. My dearest friend.
I tell you this, I have been friends with you for many years and we have been very close. I'm glad we're friends but I want to be more. I know we have kissed and we have touched each other, we shared our love. I guess what I am trying to say is, will you be my boyfriend? I know I should tell you in person and I wish I could, believe me. But I have chosen to extend my stay in Europe; I promise I will bring back something nice for you. I know you will be waiting for me when I get back but for now you will have to be alone, watching Harry Potter marathons or re-watching Frozen over and over again.
Love always,
Jarrod.
I left the album open and placed the postcard on the mantelpiece and picked up my backpack. I open the fly screen door and left, looking back at the room, as if I'll never see it again. I closed the door and stared down at the mat, it read: "Velkommen", it meant welcome in Norwegian. I stared back through the door and then turned to see my friend waiting for me at the end of the driveway. Hopefully I too will find love one day.
