A Scaring Situation.

Disclaimer: I don't own Treasure Planet. Disney does©. Based on the novel Treasure Planet, by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The sun had just risen on Montressor. A young boy was beginning to wake up. This was 8-year-old Jim Hawkins. A door slammed shut. Jim sat up in bed, and looked out his window. What he saw gave him a fright.

A man was walking down the docks, towards a boat. The man was Jim's father, Leland. Jim leaped out of bed. He raced downstairs. Jim could see his mother, Sarah. She was sitting at a table, sobbing.

Jim bolted out the front door. He desperately wanted to catch up with his father. Jim ran down the dock as fast as he could. But he tripped and fell on the way. By the time he reached the edge of the dock, it was too late. Jim could only reach out a hand, as he saw his father disappeared out of sight, and out of his life...forever.

Jim quietly walked back to the house. He sat down next to his mother. Sarah looked at him. Jim had been crying, just as she had. She took his hand in her's.

"I'm so sorry", she said. "About what?!" asked Jim. There was a look that was mixture of sadness, anger and confusion in his eyes. "About dad?" "Yes", said Sarah. "Why did he leave?! Did you know about this?! And did you try to stop him?!" asked Jim.

"I don't know why your father left", said Sarah. "I didn't know he was going to. It took me by surprise just as much as it did you. And I tried to stop him, but I couldn't." "Why not?" asked Jim. "You know how stubborn your father could be", said Sarah.

Both Sarah and Jim were silent for a while. Then Jim spoke up. "Will dad ever come back?" he asked. Sarah bit her lip. She was unsure of how to answer this question. "I'm afraid not", she said at last.

Jim's face sank. He felt tears coming back into his eyes. "That's so unfair", he cried. "I'm know", said Sarah. "But life isn't fair sometimes."

Then Sarah gasped. "Jim, what happened to your face?" she asked. "It's bleeding." Jim touched his face, and came away with blood on his fingers.

"I tripped on the path while chasing after dad", said jim. "Let's get that cleaned up", said Sarah. "Okay mom", said Jim.

Sarah cleaned Jim's cut up. It was small, but would leave a scar. The scar started on Jim's forehead, and extended all the way under his left eye. It formed a kind of crescent shape. The scar stayed with Jim for the rest of his life. It became part of who he was.

Jim's life took a good turn when he was 15. But the scar always served as reminder of the dark day that changed his life.

The End

A/N: I made Jim's scar permanently be on the left side of his face. This is because 1.) Having a scar that switched sides didn't make any sense at all to me. And I didn't know how to explain that.

2.) I saw that it was mostly on the left side of his face for much of the movie.

3.) I have a scar that is like that under my left eye.

4.) I'm left-handed.
