I don't Own anything but the plot.
I was watching Romeo and Juliet last night and just had to wright this.
let lips do what hands do!
"Fraulein Maria?" Liesl asked.
"Yes Liesl?"
"I can't understand this." Liesl moaned.
"What part don't you understand?" Maria said soothingly, walking over to the girl, not noticing the Captain watching his fianceé from the shadow of the door. He would have gone in but he was frozen to the spot, instantly captivated by her. She had, unknowingly, stepped into a beam of sunlight that gave her an angelic glow.
"What is he trying to say to her?"
"Where?" Liesl pointed to the book she had in her hand. "Ah that part. Well, he likes her and he is trying to kiss her." She tries to explain.
"Who's kissing who?" The Captain asks coming into the room. Maria blushes but her face instantly lights up, again taking his breath away.
"Father!" Gretl shouts, running up to give him a good morning hug. "We missed you at breakfast."
"I'm sorry children, I had an errand to run." Gretl, having got the answer she wanted, went to sit back down. "Now, who's kissing who?"
"Romeo and Juliet, father." Liesl answered him. "Fraulein Maria's getting me to read it, but I don't understand it."
"Ah, I see. Which part are you stuck on darling?" he asked, coming to stand just behind Maria, secretly placing his hand on her hip. She could feel the heat emanating from his body.
"They have just met." Says Liesl.
The Captain thinks for a moment, then takes Maria's hand that is resting on the table. She gasps as he begins the lines of the scene.
"If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." He kisses her hand and stares into her eyes.
"Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss."
"Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?"
"Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in pray'r."
"O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do! They pray; grant thou, lest faith turn to despair."
"Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."
"Then move not while my prayer's effect I take. Thus from my lips, by thine my sin is purg'd." While they were reciting, they grew closer together. He takes a single diamond ring out of his pocket and places it on her finger. Then, with his children looking on, he gently kisses their governess (soon-to-be mother). He pulls back after a few seconds.
"Then have my lips the sin that they have took." She continues when she manages to get her breath back.
"Sin from my lips? O trespass sweetly urg'd! Give me my sin again." He takes her fully in his arms and kissed her more thoroughly. She put her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to deepen the kiss. He pulled her closer to him and rapped his arms around her waist.
"Well Liesl? Do you understand it now?" The Captain said, in a shaky voice when he had managed to brake the kiss.
"Y…Yes father, Thank you." She answered him, trying to process what had just happened. "But why the ring father?" She asks, with a hit of hope in her voice. He looks at his children, each one had growing hope and surprise in their eyes. He glanced at Maria, who had an even wider and more beautiful smile on her face.
"Children." She says, catching her fiance's eyes again. "We have something to tell you." Excitement creeping into her voice.
