Wulf growls again, his ears flat against bristling fur as his slit-like eyes peer at the open sky.
He did the same that night, Danny remembers. He just didn't know what it meant.
Danny feels it too. It crawls weakly beneath his skin and he wants so badly to dig his nails in and scratch but in the end it will do no good.
He followed the claw marks etched into the trees, calling out his friend's name. Wulf was acting off, and he had to know why.
They just have to wait till plenluno arose.
Moonlight spills onto the hulking figure holding him. He yelled and fought with every ghostly inch in him. Sadly it was not enough.
Absently, he traces the faint marks. His fingers snake up the outlined bridgeworks on his arm to the multiple mutilations on his torso.
They drill into him viscously, unceasing to his choking screams that bled and glistened under the full moon.
Wulf notices this, his body drooping from what can never be fixed.
"Mi bedauras," he whines.
Danny can't remember much afterwards. There was so much pain. What he does is only the feeling of strong arms cradling him. Gentle gibberish and wet drops streaming down two dull-green circles. The drops plop onto him; cooling ice rain on raging flames.
"It's okay, amiko." He smiles. His voice is forgiving, but the words still taste bittersweet. "It's okay."
Everything feels different. The scents are sharper and the nights are brighter. Tiny needles dance upon his body so that he twitches and growls and bares his teeth at the slightest things. Its annoying to the point that he can't sit still anymore because he has to run, fly, be free of it all.
Everything is changing. He is changing too.
Orange splashes across the hills. The shadows stretch deeper in the trees. But stars shine brighter in the night. Danny shines brighter too.
They ask him if he's okay. Ask again. Always asking- he doesn't know why. Some nights he flys out to be swallowed by the moon and just howls, howls, howls how frustrating that they can't understand and he wishes someone did so he understands. His voice aches but he can never stop because sometimes, the moon howls back.
As the sun drowns in the horizon he waits. Danny balances on his right foot. Shifts. Balances on the left. It buzzes restlessly. His fingers can only curl inside, grimacing how tame those stings will feel once it truly begins.
He's convulsing on the floor as his whole body burns. Bones crack, twist, push against too tight skin. Muscle tremble, heave to stretch outward, to grow and thicken. Pores split, unleashing thick hair that come in multitudes.
He bites down the urge to scream. It hurts, but the pain will fade eventually.
Screaming, screaming, but nothing comes out as new teeth pierce through to stab his brittle tongue. He sees spots and taste bile copper but somehow sense Wulf is beside him, heaving back sobs and promising it will be over soon.
Plenluno watches it all, shining no dimmer when the deed is done. Danny pants, lapping up the rest of the blood and tears that stains his face. He looks to his companion by his side.
"Protaj?" Wulf asks, after the horror is over. After discovering what horror he has become.
"Ready."
They race into the darkness, ghostly howls rollicking in the breeze. When the sun would come, the freedom will die and end the fun, but they paid no mind.
The night was young.
The hunt has just begun.
Took Bibbledoo challenge of werewolf!Danny, and I think it came out nicely.
Then again, that's my opinion.
Good? Bad? Confusing?
Tell me what you think!
