It's Beginning to Rain
It's begun to rain
You lie there lifeless and peaceful
The rain splashes down on your face, your eyes never to open again
It's begun to rain
I see your wife and child standing there
Your daughter tugs on her mother's sleeve
"Why are they burying daddy? I don't like it! Make them stop!"
They cling to each other and cry
It's begun to rain
I watch as they lower you into the ground
They wrap you forever in a blanket of dirt
Everyone walks away, crying
I stay, looking down at your gravestone, cold and gray
It's begun to rain
I remember our times together
How you said you would work under me and push me to the top
Absurd how you out-ranked me even in death
I'll never forget your face as you went down
A look of shock, mingled with sadness
A single tear escapes and falls down on your gravestone
It's begun to rain
