"Hey, you're back!" she greeted cheerfully, turning to face him. Cloud parked his bike by the side of the road and crossed to the flower field in the other side. Aerith remained standing amongst the flowers, waiting for him to come and greet her. He lifted his head, a smile breaking across the usually expressionless face. She returned it instantly as she raised her arms around his neck in a loving embrace.

"You know I'm never away for long," he replied, wrapping his own arms around her waist. They stood silently in each other's arms, just enjoying the company before she pulled away. Their lips were so close to touching and part of Cloud wanted to lean forward and capture them against his own, to feel them like he should have before she died.

"Cloud?" she asked and he lifted her eyes to meet her own. "You still think of me, don't you." It wasn't a question but a statement. Cloud continued to bore his eyes into hers.

"Of course I do," he answered. "How can I not think about you?"

She lowered her eyes with an expression of guilt as she took a deep breath. Cloud had loved her and she had thrown away whatever chance they had to help the Planet instead. There hadn't been a choice she knew that but it still hurt to see him suffer because of her actions.

"But at least you're happy now right?" she pressed, tilting her head to the side. He took a moment to reply before he nodded.

"Yeah but that's because I finally realised something."

She stared at him curiously. "What?"

He smiled, brushing his lips against hers lovingly before saying in barely a whisper. "Love can overcome any distance."
