"That Little Child"

I do not own the rights to the Draenei, Orcs, Humans, Dwarves and Blood Elves/ High Elves from the on line game World of Warcraft. But will take credit for reminding players about Children's Week, and cursing Blizzard for not being able to adopt those cute lil innocent babies! ~!

I want one of those cute lil tailed wonders! -huggles all the Draenei children she can find in Shatt.-

Shattrath, Orgrimmar and Stormwind. You hear the Matrons call, the children squealing in free play amongst the streets. Your on your mount and their little wide eyes stop and stare, you're an impressive figure to them! And you swear you see sadness in their little eyes. Does it even cross your mind to get off your mount and tell them tales of your bravery? Or pull them to a bakery and give them a sweet treat? How many times have you rode past because you were too busy with your own life?

Children's Week comes and goes once a year. One lucky child gets the false hope of being adopted. Following a hero around for week, getting credit for the good deed and dump him or her back off at the orphanage as if they were nothing more then a quest! The matrons explaining that they will be back as the child sobs and cries, wishing for their dead mommy and daddy.

Another child falls to sickness something a Priest or Alchemist would of been able to cure. A matron tries to not cry, knowing more children would fall ill to the same sickness. A little brother is left without a sister, alone in a sea of people. Too young to understand that their sister is never coming home. She gets to go and see her parents. Where is the light for that child?

Twins come to the orphanage. Scared and shaking remembering the way their parents died. Remembering the matron and a guard coming to get them from their broken home. They are given a cold greeting by the other children, as those in charge worry about money to feed and clothe the new mouths. Their toys are taken away, blankets stolen. All the two have are each other and their dreams.

Even now, the orphanages are getting full. Matrons are low on funds to care for the children. All the money goes to the war effort. Those deemed lucky live in the warmth of the orphanage, getting one square meal a day and friendship of their fellow brothers and sisters. They happily run around the streets, being little children at play. You ride past, thinking back to your mother and father and your 10 acre farmland. Your dog, Spot and everything you had growing up.

Do you notice the little girl on the street corner? Do you hear her sickening cough? Do you see her broken hoof? Her tattered dress and dirty face, but still bright eyes as she holds out a flower, trying to make money for herself. Nobody pays attention. Not even you. She looks down for a moment, trying to ignore the pain that racks her body. She looks back up to the large world, knowing her mommy is watching over her. And that's when you stop, glance back and frown....

Will you help this child? Or will you ride away?

Please Remember Children's Week and make a difference to a child!
