This is just a little story I thought up while mulling over why Lily was given her middle name. All character belong to JK Rowling (Obviously).
"We're naming her Lily." Harry announced.
"After Harry's mother, of course." Ginny added. Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna and the two parents crowded on room of St. Mungos maternity ward, all wanting a look at the baby girl.
"Do you have a middle name yet?" Neville questioned, as they had given one to both of their sons (who waited outside with Mrs Weasley).
"Not yet," Ginny admitted. "It's proving more difficult than it was with the boys."
"I would have thought you'd've gone with Nymphadora." Ron commented.
"No, no," Hermione disagreed "Tonks wouldn't have liked that."
"That's what we thought." Harry agreed.
"And just calling her 'Tonks' didn't seem very feminine." Ginny added with a laugh.
"I suppose calling her Remus is out of the question then?" Ron inquired jokingly.
"So… what names do you have in mind?" Luna asked, once the laughter had died down.
Harry shrugged. "We're opened to suggestions, I guess." The group mulled it over for a few minutes.
"Cedric-a." Hermione said (not seriously, of course) as she slumped down with defeat.
"Moaning Myrtle!" Ron quipped, causing most of the room to groan. "Well, that's all I've got!"
"I know!" Neville piped up. "What about Dobby?" At this, the entire room looked to him incredulously. "Or, you know… not Dobby…" He amended, blushing.
"It was a nice thought Neville." Luna consoled.
"Thanks Luna."
"Luna…" Ginny repeated.
"Lily Luna." Harry said, nodding slowly. "Got a nice ring to it, don't you think?"
"What, me?" Luna asked in surprise. "But I'm not even dead!"
Ginny chuckled. "It's not a rule that all our kids have to be named after dead people."
"And anyway, it's sort of a good way to honour moony too." Harry supplemented.
"Lily Luna." Hermione agreed, smiling down at her niece.
"Lily LunaPotter," Her father proclaimed "Welcome to the world."
