I heard about the "Dead Daisy" challenge and I thought I'd give it a try. This is a very short story. To give you fair warning, this story is a little earthy.
I don't own Bones.
Oooooooooooooooooo
A body had been found at a waste treatment plant on the outskirts of Richmond, Virginia. The body wasn't easily accessible and from what the authorities could see, it was in horrible condition. The local police decided that they'd just pass the responsibility of retrieving and identifying the body on to the FBI and made a few quick calls. Assuring the FBI that it was under their jurisdiction, the Chief of Police promised to have an officer guard the entrance until they arrived. No one in the Richmond Police Department wanted to be at the plant, so they drew straws to see who would have the assignment of guarding the tank and protecting a possible crime scene. The short straw lost. Officer Kranston accepted his fate and waited for the FBI to show up cursing the fact that he'd just had a big breakfast.
Arriving at the crime scene, Booth held his nose and gagged. "Ah crap. What the Hell is that smell?"
Daisy, walking behind Booth and Brennan as they approached the sediment tank offered her opinion. "Ah, that's the natural smell of effluent."
Not sure he knew that what meant, Booth turned and looked at the intern. "What the hell is that?"
Amused that Booth was uncomfortable with the surrounding smell, Daisy informed him with a cheerful reply. "You know Agent Booth, excrement, egesta, fecal matter . . . you know . . . poop."
Turning away from Daisy, Booth took a handkerchief from his jacket pocket and placed it over his nose. Trying to breathe through the cloth, Booth slowed down and let everyone pass him. He hoped he would suddenly get a head cold, but unfortunately, that miracle didn't happen.
Not sure why Booth was making a production out of the nature of poop, Daisy assured him, "It's all natural, Agent Booth. Every one poops and it has to go somewhere."
Staring at Brennan and Daisy as they walked away from him, Booth continued to gag. Trying to breath in smaller breaths, Booth made up his mind that he couldn't let Brennan do her job unprotected. Reluctantly, he walked towards the sedimentation tank and looked around to see if there was an easier way to the top. Looking for Brennan and Daisy, he saw them walking on the catwalk above him. Climbing up to the catwalk, Booth saw his partner and her intern move around to the far side of the tank and point towards the center of the pool of dark liquid. Curious about what they were looking at, he saw what looked like a body bobbing in the thick, brown waste water.
Unable to stop his reaction, Booth continued to gag as he walked around the catwalk towards the other side of the tank. He had almost reached the other side, when he saw Daisy trip on something on the platform and fall head first in to the disgusting liquid below.
Continuing to walk carefully around the tank, Booth soon arrived at Brennan's side and looked down into the tank. Not seeing the intern, Booth removed the cloth from his nose and turned towards his partner. "I thought Daisy could swim."
Puzzled that her intern had not reappeared, Brennan shrugged her shoulders and stared at the thick brown sludge. "I guess she was full of shit."
Ooooooooooooooooooo
What can I say? Not much. What do think?
