SO yeah this goes with some of my art on Deviantart so this is the fic that goes with 'You Came?'
The Bei Fong Estate was filled with activity for the coming festivities. All around, servants were running either taking measurements for dresses or catering the food. The decorations were the finest in the Earth Kingdom. A woman sat on a luscious bed, her feet skimming the ground. She sighed and a maid came in.
"Lady Bei Fong. It's time to get ready." The kind maid spoke gently, for she knew Lady Bei Fong well enough to know her true feelings about this day. She stood up off the bed and grabbed the gown from her.
"Thank you. You may come back in a few minutes." She nodded and left the room. Toph slipped into the dress easily. An elegant silk emerald dress. The upped half clinging to her figure, whilst the lower half waved with a breeze, stopping a little above the knee. Her shoes were thin green flats. The maid came back in and started on Toph's hair. A wave of ebony flowing over her shoulders, with freshly cut bangs hanging just above her eyes. An emerald encrusted tiara was placed in her hair. A necklace hung gracefully from her neck.
"You're all ready, Miss." Toph thanked the maid and made it to the grand hall of the Estate. Her parents and fiancé were waiting for her there. She walked with dignity to her seat. As more guests arrived, her headache grew. She finally escaped onto the terrace when her fiancé was talking to her father. Footsteps followed her there. She had barely heard them. Then she recognized the man. She turned to face him.
"You came?" He walked to the edge of the terrace and looked out next to her.
"Of course, it is your engagement party."
"But… you said… you said you never wanted to see me again." She looked away from him to hide her face.
"Toph-" He was cut off.
"You hate me." Tears threatened to fall from her unseeing eyes.
"What?"
"You… you said you hated me and you never wanted to see me again." Her lips trembled.
"Toph I was mad. I didn't mean it."
"But you weren't lying!" She gripped the rail. Her gloved fingers leaving dents in the stone.
"Am I lying now?" He pulled her hand and kissed her. She fought away.
"What are you doing?! I'm getting married tomorrow!"
"But you don't love him." She sighed and tears rolled gracefully down her cheeks.
"No. But if I back out now… well, bad things happen."
"What bad things?"
"My parents made a contract and if I back out… I'll be disowned by my parents."
"What? They can't-"
"Yes they can! They did!… Leave." She took a hard breath.
"Wha-?"
"Leave now Sokka. Go home." She started back to the party. He stood there numb. The party soon ended and he went back to the inn he was staying at. When dawn came, news did too.
Lady Toph Bei Fong, The Best Earthbender of All Time, had gone missing.
He smiled.
