Breakfast-time Thinking

Gregory's five favorite times of day were breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and dinner junior. At that moment, it was breakfast, which came first, usually. It was hard to completely enjoy his food, though, because he wasn't really thinking about it. The thing that he was thinking about instead was Luny Lovegood.

Luny Lovegood was the very best witch that had ever lived. Gregory knew that he'd get into trouble if he ever really talked to her, but he imagined that if he ever did, they'd get on very well. You see, his second favorite thing in the world was food, and Luny Lovegood was so clever, and liked it so much, that sometimes she'd even wear it! She hung it from her ears, some days, and other days she wore this shiny bottle-cap necklace, or even this bracelet with an enchanted strawberry on it.

She was also really, really pretty. Gregory was not very pretty himself—in fact, he though he looked a bit like a gorilla—but pretty girls were Goyle's third favorite thing, and Luny Lovegood was really, really pretty.

Her eyes were the color of blueberries, except lighter and more brilliant—they had this mistiness about them, an odd sort of elegance like the steam rising from a goblet of hot pumpkin juice. Her skin was sweet butter-cream, except for her cheeks, which were stained a sort of peachy shade. Her hair was just gorgeous—it was all different colors: pale vanilla, light chocolate, it was as if someone had charmed it to reflect the most delicately layered cake.

And, oddly enough, Luny Lovegood walked like frosting. She had a smooth, gentle walk. She sort of glided around, and even when she seemed lost she still walked like she belonged there.

Even if she weren't so beautiful, she'd still be perfect for him. He felt an attatchment to her that he didn't feel towards anyone else. No one ever took her seriously, but no one ever took him seriously, either. They both lucked out, though, despite this, because Luny Lovegood would probably always be really, really pretty, and Gregory would definitely always be really scary looking—like a gorilla with a wand—and both attributes meant power, and power was the best thing in the world according to his Pa. And Draco. And they were both always right—they said so themselves.

"Hey, Goyle, what're you looking at? You actually seem thoughtful. Are you thinking?"

Goyle looked up, half-chewed food in his mouth as he replied with a garbled, "Huh?"

"Hmm, guess not. I don't suppose you would have much to think about, assuming you even bothered to."
