This was safe, from the hollow of Toris's elbow that she curled up against to the hand that she often held in hers. This was safe from the look in his eyes that never told her that she couldn't share any pain and suffering with him to his voice that somehow could soothe her anxieties in its quiet undertones. This was safe from the tips of his eyelashes to the way the that he kissed her, like she was infinitely precious, and he could not have enough of just being around her.

This was safe from the dates that they went on to the days that they were so tired and lazy that they wouldn't call them dates but lazy hangouts where movies tended to play, and they often passed out from exhaustion. This was safe from the way that she could be quiet with him to the way that she felt that she could share every word of struggle and strife with him.

This was safe from just who he was to just who she was, and Amelia couldn't ask for anything better. Something within Toris soothed a broken part of her, and she believed from what he told her that something within Amelia soothed a broken part of Toris. Amelia smiled, nestled close enough to rest her head against his throat and for her hair to tickle his neck, tangle with his hair, and to brush his shoulder in long strands. There was just something about staying close for no other reason than the shared compassion and the element of safety that flowed from the two of them.

Amelia smiled despite the gentle laughter that issued forth from her throat. She loved just being near him, even as her heart bounced and jiggled to a rhythm and tune that Toris's heart inspired in her and taught her. Every beat was like an endless chant of love, like strands of hair, so much that neither Amelia or Toris would stay all day to count them. It was them, and even if they ever needed an escape, a hiding place, an element of safety, they both knew that the person that would protect and keep them safe would be each other.
