A drabble of sorts that popped into my head around midnight. Enjoy!

Update 21- June- 2011: A reader (IzziMeyers) alerted me to an error which has been fixed. Thanks :)

To Tie A Tie

"Hermione," Seamus whined, fidgeting in front of the mirror. Rolling her eyes, the woman in question crossed the room to attend to her boyfriend.

"What now?"

"I can' tie this half-arsed, lousy thing," he complained, yanking at the neat blue tie Hermione had purchased for him. She stepped in front of him, taking the strip of fabric in her hands with another roll of the eyes.

"You're hopeless, Sea, really." Crossing the wide end of the tie over the narrow end, she flipped it around and under, wrapping it knot and putting the end through the centre, tightening the fabric and settling it at the hollow of his throat. "There. That should do it." Her perfume wafted into his nose, filling it with oranges and cinnamon and something else he didn't know the name of but liked very much.

"Why'm I wearing this again?" Seamus wanted to know.

"We've been dating for two months and you've still not met my parents. I think you need to make a good impression by wearing Muggle clothing. It won't kill you to use it for one night of your life, Sea!" She was getting worked up, pacing agitatedly in her frustration. He sighed and stilled her with a hand on the waist.

"Lass, I'm still wearin' tha tie." His Irish brogue grew stronger in his emotion and he cleared his throat a few times. "And I'm not takin' it off."

She softened immediately. Bloody bipolar women, he thought, but didn't say it out loud. "Thanks, Sea," she whispered, and bloody hell, he could feel his heart melting. He kissed her sweetly, tasting lipstick. She giggled when he pulled away, using a tissue to wipe the red lipstick off the corners of his mouth. "Shall we?" she asked, motioning towards the door.

"We shall." Seamus picking her up, carrying her bridal-style over the threshold. She eyed him weirdly.

"Aren't you supposed to carry me into the house, not out of it?"

"I don't give a damn," Sea muttered, standing her upright before kissing her soundly once again. Laughing in earnest this time, Hermione once again wiped lipstick off the corners of his lips before Apparating them to her parents' neighbourhood. The gathering lasted well into the night, and Hermione pretended not to notice when her younger cousins ambushed her boyfriend, yanking on his tie until it came out. She was very surprised, however, when he disappeared into the bathroom without his wand and came back with his tie perfectly knotted.

She was, as she reflected after the party, very lucky to have Seamus, for which other wizarding man would not only consent to wear a Muggle tie but even remember how to knot it?
