Here's my latest attempt at doing a Young Justice story. This'll take place two years after season three. This will also have elements from the Aquaman movie.

I only own my original characters, nothing else.

As the sun rose in the east, Mako walked out onto the balcony of his home. He watched as the light slowly crept across the surface of the sea.

As the morning came, he walked back inside to the bedroom next to his own. He removed the covers of the bed and found a four year old girl underneath it. She had long red hair with ice blue tips, similar to his own slightly long red hair, which had been dyed black with ice blue tips.

Mako appeared to be about twenty-one, tall, muscular but not overly. He also had ice blue eyes, and a scar over his right eye. He nudged the child slightly and she slowly awoke to reveal the same eyes as him.

"Good morning, Cora," he said softly. "It's time to get up."

"Mmm... five more minutes, Daddy...," she said tiredly and falling back asleep.

Mako just smiled and then picked her up and put her on his shoulder, waking her up and she began laughing.

"Daddy, put me down!!!"

"If you insist..."

He then placed her down in a chair and got something ready for breakfast. The two of them had been living in Sicily, Italy ever since Cora was born and her mother left them both. Mako has been doing the best that he can to raise her, but he knew that she needed a mother figure in her life.

"We'll need to eat quick, got a busy day today," he said, and she nodded.

They quickly got ready after breakfast and headed out to the town and began stopping at shops for more supplies, unaware of the pair of eyes that were on them.

As the morning ended, Mako saw that Cora was getting sick of walking and decided to call it a day. So he paid for the rest of the supplies and they both began to head back home.

However, Mako then noticed that they were being followed and he quickened their pace.

"What's wrong, Daddy?," Cora asked.

"When we get home, head inside. Don't come out until I say so."

"Am I in trouble?"

He looked down and gave her a little smile.

"No, sweetie. Someone's following us and I just want you to be safe," he said and she nodded in understanding.

Once they got home, Cora did as she was told and Mako turned around to see a woman behind him. She was slightly shorter than him, with long red hair, and had that same look as him, kind but very serious.

"...Hello, little brother," she said.

"What do you want, Mera?," he asked.

"I wanted to see how you were holding up."

"After four years?"

"I am a queen, you know? I'm quite busy. Was that my niece?"

He quickly walked in front of the door with a frown on his face.

"You stay away from her. I don't want you or any other Atlantean near her," he threatened.

"Mako, please...," Queen Mera said.

"Why should I allow you near my daughter when you never stand up for you family?"

"There was nothing I could do to stop your banishment and you know it."

"...I know," he said. "The real reason is because I'm tired of all the violence. We Atlanteans are just as violent as the surface dwellers. I don't want them to take her and use her to their advantage."

"...I'd never harm her," she said, walking closer to him. "You know me that well, don't you?"

"...Why are you here?"

"...I just wanted to see you again."

"...Well, you've seen me. I'm doing fine. Now, please... just go."

She looked at him for a few moments before nodding and walking away.

"May I at least know her name?," she asked.

"...Cora," he answered.

She nodded and then left.

Mako watched as she did so and then went inside where Cora was waiting.

"Are you okay, Daddy?," she asked as he picked her up and hugged her. "Who was that?"

"I'll tell some other time. Come on, let's go make some lunch."

They began to walk towards the kitchen when all of a sudden, there was an explosion. They were pushed back, Mako covering Cora to protect her.

"Are you okay?!," he asked and she nodded as men in black armor and grey helmets covering their faces appeared and pointed their guns at them. "What do you want?!"

"We want you," one of them said.

"Who's we?"

"Soldiers of Black Manta" he said and got closer to him.

"...Cora, cover you eyes," Mako said and once she did, he immediately grabbed the gun and punched the trooper in the face.

He then kicked him towards another as he fired the gun at them. He kicked one away as he got one in a chokehold, and knocked him out as he moved to slam another's head into a wall. He held his own against the troopers, but soon he became overwhelmed and they held him down as the moved to grab Cora

Then tentacles of water burst out of the kitchen sink and other water accessible areas of the house and attacked the rest of them, freeing both Mako and Cora at the same time. Once they were all knocked out, Mako grabbed his daughter and turned to see his sister had returned.

"Are you alright?," she asked.

"I'll make it. What's going on?"

"I don't know, but we can't stay here. We need to move you and Cora, and I might know just the place."

After a moment, Mako sighed and simply nodded and began following Mera.

"Daddy, who is this?," Cora asked as they walked.

"Cora, this is my big sister, Mera. Your aunt," he said."

"Hello, Cora."

She shyly waved at her and they continued.

"I wanted to tell you when you were older, but I guess I have to now," Mako said as they reached a distant shore, away from the town so no one could see them.

"Are we going swimming?"

"Kind of."

They then walked towards the water, and soon they were submerged in it. Mera and Mako then saw that Cora was holding her breath and Mera chuckled a little at this.

"She really doesn't know, does she?," Mera asked, Cora's eyes widening in surprise at her new aunt talking underwater.

"Like I said, I was gonna tell her when she was older. Sweetheart, you don't have to hold your breath. Go ahead, breathe in."

Reluctantly, she did so but quickly realized that she wasn't drowning. She was breathing water.

"Wow!!!," she yelled. "How?!!"

"We're Atlanteans, Cora," Mako explained. "Now hold on tight."

They two of them then began swimming fast through the water and towards a small ship.

"She'll have to sit on your lap," Mera said as she got into the fish shaped ship. Mako and Cora then got in and they began moving deeper into the Mediterranean Sea and soon enough, out into the Atlantic. "You should probably explain now."

"Yeah. Cora, all the stories you've heard of the lost city of Atlantis are true. There are people who do live in the sea. Like Aquaman and Aqualad."

"Really?," she said and they nodded.

"They are the Seven Kingdoms of Atlantis. Mera and I are from one called Xebel. And also your aunt here... is Queen of Atlantis. She's married to Aquaman."

She just gave a bewildered look which made the adults just laugh.

"Where are we going?," Mako asked.

"To Atlantis for now," Mera answered, and Mako gave her a look. "Last I checked, our father banished you from Xebel, not Atlantis."

"We're going to Atlantis?!!," Cora exclaimed.

"Yes, we are. By the way, Orin is no longer Aquaman. That title has been passed to Kaldur."

"Hmm...," Mako said as they neared the Gateway Bridge, the road that led into Atlantis. "I expect an explanation as to why Black Manta is after me."

She didn't say anything as they passed through and they entered. It was everything that he remembered, a vast city of advanced technology and power. He looked around to see his fellow Atlanteans merely living out their lives as always.

"Welcome home, brother," Mera said.

"...Good to be back."

"Wow...," Cora said.

"Pretty big change from getting errands this morning huh?," Mako said and she nodded in agreement.

Mera then headed up towards the royal palace, where she and King Orin lived.

"Might be best to make sure Orm stays clear of me, by the way."

"Orm is dead."

"What...?"

She nodded as she landed the ship, and they swam into the palace. They found their way into the throne room, thankfully finding the King of Atlantis alone. He was taller than Mako, wore an orange and green outfit with short blonde hair and a beard.

"Mera, my love. Nice to see that you've retur-," Orin began to say before he saw Mako. "Mera, what have you done?"

"What I had to, Orin," Mera answered. "If I didn't bring Mako and Cora here to safety, they'd be in the hands of Black Manta and the Light."

"...Very well. But unfortunately, they cannot stay. I have an idea as to where they can stay at."

"As do I. Shall we contact them?"

"Hold it!!," Mako said. "Let's not get ahead ourselves. Who are you talking about?"

"The protégés of the Justice League formed a team of nearly a decade ago."

"I know, Young Justice. Why are we-? Oh no... you are not putting me and my daughter in the hands of teenagers."

"You don't exactly have a choice in the matter," Orin said, and Mako slowly and reluctantly agreed as he knew he was right. "Now then, who might this be?"

"Cora, sir," she said shyly.

"Cora, this is your uncle, King Orin of Atlantis," Mako explained. "The original Aquaman."

She just grinned widely at this.

"Mera, perhaps you can show Cora around," Orin said. "I need to speak to Mako alone."

She nodded and her brother handed Cora to her aunt and both of them swam out of the room.

"...Any ideas as to why Black Manta would want me?"

"Nothing comes to mind right away. I'll inform the league and they'll inform Young Justice. Kaldur will probably come and take you two to Mount Justice."

"Fine... I just don't like all this change happening all at once," he said and Orin nodded. "It can't be for no reason. Clearly, Manta thinks I have something that he wants."

"Or you pose a threat to a plan of his and the Light. They're a group of the league's greatest enemies bent on dominating the world. They had been secret for a while until Young Justice-."

"I know the story. I've been living on the surface for four years, remember?"

"...I have... missed you, Mako," he says sarcastically.

"Whatever," he said back. "Anyway, should he attack me again, we should capture one of his men, get him to talk."

He nodded in agreement and sometime later, Mako and Cora were in a room made up for them temporarily.

"This is amazing, Daddy!! So, this is where you grew up?"

"No, actually, I grew up in Xebel. Your grandfather, King Nereus, raised me to be a king one day."

"Wait, you'll be a king one day?," Cora asked but her father shook his head.

"Not anymore," he answered. "Your grandfather wasn't happy that I fell in love with your mother."

"Why?"

"Atlantis doesn't get along with the surface."

"Why?"

"A lot of reasons. Some think we're better than them, others are just evil and want to rule them. But the biggest one is because the surface people pollute the oceans and overhunt it's animals."

"What does pollute mean?"

"They dump trash into the oceans," he clarified.

"Oh...," she said. "Who's Black Manta?"

"...Aquaman's greatest enemy. His archenemy, I guess."

"Why is he after us?"

"I don't know, but what I do know is that you don't have to worry about that. Okay?"

"Okay. But what's going to happen to us?"

"Well, we can't stay here. So we'll be staying with some other people on the surface."

"Okay," Cora said and he then put her in the bed in their room and soon enough, she began to fall asleep.

Mako smiled down at his daughter before quietly swimming out of the room and looked out at the city.

"...Mako...," Mera said, coming up next to him.

"Save it. You don't have anything to apologize, I do though."

"For what?"

"I should never have blamed you," he said. "It's just that... I've had to raise Cora for four years with no help. I had no family to help me, and I placed some of that pent up anger towards you. I said that I knew that it wasn't your fault, and I still blamed you. And for that... I am sorry."

Mera turned him towards her and quickly hugged him tightly, which he returned.

"I have truly missed you, little brother," she said then she jumped when she felt hair get stuff for a moment and saw it was frozen, which annoyed her very much. "Maybe not as much as I originally believed."

"I missed you too," he said as his eyes began glowing white and his scar did as well and marking on his neck were seen as well.

He then waved his hand at her hair and the ice dissipated.

"Kaldur shall be here soon. You best get ready."

He nodded and soon enough, the new Aquaman arrived.

"Prince Mako, it is good to see you again, old friend," Kaldur said, grabbing his forearm as Mako did the same.

"Kal... it's certainly been awhile," he said. "So what's going?"

"I am taking up to surface where we'll head to Mount Justice. Come."

"Hold on a moment."

Mako then swam back to his temporary room and gently and carefully picked Cora up. He then headed back to Kaldur, who looked shocked to see him with a child.

"Long story," he said and they both headed back to the surface.

As they walked out of the water and onto a beach, Mako saw that they were likely in North America now.

"Send a boom tube to Mount Justice to my location," Aquaman said over his coms and one almost immediately appeared.

They walked through it to find a team made up of teenagers for the most part. The two oldest, who Mako could only guess were the leaders, were a man and woman, looking to be only a couple years older than he was, the girl wearing a mainly black outfit with a blue cape and her skin was as white as snow. The man wore an almost all black shirt with a red Superman symbol on it.

"Hello, Kal," the girl said and then saw Mako and Cora. "Who might these two be?"

"This former Prince Mako of Xebel, and this is... I never learned who she was."

"My daughter, Cora. Now, please," he said quietly then gestured them to be quiet as well and they quickly saw that she was asleep.

"Oh, sorry," the girl said quietly. "Well, I'm Megan, and this is my husband, Connor."

"I know who you are. We met nine years ago. You're Miss Martian and Superboy. The current leaders of Young Justice, and the last two original members that are still part of it. Can you show me to a spare room? Then we can talk more."

"Yeah, Cassie, could you...?"

"Sure," a new voice said.

Mako turned around to see a beautiful girl, about eighteen, with blonde hair hanging off her shoulders slightly, and wearing a black shirt with a golden symbol on it. She gestured him to follow her and he did so.

"What's going on, Kal?," Superboy asked.

"I am not entirely sure. My father's men attack him earlier this day," he answered. "Seems he's a potential problem for him and the Light for yet another plot of theirs. I do believe that we'll find out soon enough."

"I'm Cassandra, but you can call me Cassie," cassie said.

"Like Kal said, I'm Mako and this is Cora," Mako said. "You're Wonder Girl, aren't you?"

"That's right. Here's you."

She opens the door and Maki looked around to see a bed, closet, a chair, bathroom. nightstand and a dresser. Mako then quickly but carefully placed his daughter down into the bed and moved the chair next to it.

"This'll do, thank you. I think proper introductions should wait until morning, don't you agree?"

"Yeah, I suppose it's kind of late," Wonder Girl said. "Goodnight then."

"Goodnight," Mako said and he sat down in the chair as she left, and he continued to watch the door for a moment after she had. "...What's going on with my life?"

Hope you all like this, not sure on it. Not sure when the next chapter will be up, so expect it at any time. Until then, see ya later.
