Santana curled up at the end of the dock watching as the moon rose over the trees. This was going to be her last summer before going off to college. The last time that she would get to be a crazy teenager and get away with it. Brittany had fallen asleep and was back at the cabin, cuddling her stuffed duck plushy. The rest of the gleeks were sitting around a campfire, singing show tunes like it was the best thing ever. The Latina sighed as she released her knees from her grasp and let her feet fall into the water. The water was cool but not too cold, so Santana just moved her feet around her thoughts roaming free.

She heard the sound of footsteps behind her and she glanced over her shoulder in time to see Puck coming over. Santana sighed and looked forward once again. She didn't want to talk. Obviously, Puck had been sent by the others to talk her into joining their festivities. She wasn't in the mood to do anything but sulk though.

"I don't want to talk to you or anyone right now, Puck."

"Who said I was here to talk to your ass? You're hogging the best spot to see the moon," Puck muttered as he sat down beside her, his eyes fixed on the moon.

"Noah Puckerman really came all the way out here to do some star gazing?" Santana looked over at him, raising a perfectly groomed eyebrow.

Puck looked at her and scoffed. "I'm not stargazing… I'm thinking."

"About?"

"Hey, did I ask you what you're thinking about?" Puck asked, his posture becoming defensive.

Santana rolled her eyes at him. "Chill, Puckerman."

They sat like that, side by side, without saying anything for a few minutes. A breeze swept by and Santana closed her eyes, enjoying the goose bumps that rose on her skin at the cool breeze.

"The future," she heard Puck whisper. Her eyes opened and she looked at the mohawked boy sitting beside her. "What?"

"I was thinking about the future. Where I'm going… what I'm going to do… Senior year is coming and while it's going to be kickass… I don't want to be some dead beat who has nothing going for him but his looks, y'know? I don't want to be my dad."

Santana nodded. Normally, whenever Puck showed off his soft side to her, the Latina would make some sarcastic comment about him not being hot or how he was being a total pussy. This time, though, she understood where he was coming from. Santana had a lot of scary stuff waiting for her in her future. Coming out to everyone, graduating high school, finally leaving Lima, going to God knows where to make her life… She didn't know what she was going to do about it all. "Yeah," she whispered.

Puck's arm wrapped around her shoulders and pulled her close. Santana tensed for a moment… normally, she jumped at the chance to seduce Puck and have some fun, make a name for herself, raise her reputation and all that but she didn't want to when she had all these feelings for Brittany messing her up.

"Chill Lopez, I'm not hitting on you."

With those words, Santana relaxed and leaned her head on Puck's shoulder. They both sat at the edge of the dock, watching the moon with their friends laughing and singing in the distance. It was times like these that Santana was really fucking happy to have Puck in her life. He was her boy. He understood her and she understood him… even if they were at each other's throats half the time.

Puck was important to her. He had earned it.

She hoped that was one thing that wouldn't chance in her oh-so-uncertain future.

A/N: Short Pucktana friendship drabble that I came up with when I just felt the need to write. I don't know if it's very good or not but I haven't updated this thing in a while and I thought FF needed some Pucktana loving. :) I'm working on a new chapter of The Things That Make Us. I'll hopefully be able to update soon! Thanks for reading guys!
