To any RWBY crossover writers, I have a challenge for you!
I read a lot of fanfiction. More specifically, I read a lot of RWBY fanfiction. And as I browse the various RWBY crossovers, I noticed something. There are certain crossovers that only go one way. What do I mean by this? I mean that certain crossover stories only have other worlds coming into RWBY, and never the other way around.
A good example would be RWBY/Fallout crossovers. There are over 100 RWBY/Fallout crossovers, yet in almost all, it's always a Fallout character (lone wonderer, sole survivor, the courier, etc) going to Remnant, and never RWBY characters (team RWBY, Team JNPR, Torchwick, Ozpin, so on and so forth) finding themselves on Earth. Why? I think such a story would be amazing. I mean, team RWBY in post-apocalyptic America? How would that NOT be awesome?
And it's not just Fallout. Other franchises have the same one-sided crossovers. The Elder Scrolls, Harry Potter, Naruto, Destiny, and Fate/stay night are some of the others guilty of this, just to name a few.
This lack of explorative crossovers is mindboggling! And I know it can be done, because while there aren't many, there are some. And these few stories are almost always popular. I found one Harry Potter/RWBY crossover that replaced Harry with Weiss. As of time I'm writing this, that story has over 80 favorites, and over 100 fallows! The story only has 3 chapters with a combined total of 4,991 words. And to top it all off, the writing is rather… subpar. If a 5,000 word, 3 chapter, lackluster story gets such a response, imagine what a truly high-quality fanfic would get!
So my challenge is as fallows. Find one of this one-side crossover franchises, and flip the tables. Have the story revolve around RWBY characters that travel to THEIR world, rather than the other way around. There are no real restrictions, other than what I just said.
Be as creative as you want, have fun, and think of all the possibilities!
A.N.- I'm posting this in the primary RWBY story section because I don't know what crossover section it would otherwise go in.
