Most of the Akatsuki lazed around. They had nothing to do. Of course, having died, they all went to the Pure World where they were resurrected and blah, blah, blah. Those were one of the rare "fun times" for them, where they could just be back on the battlefield fighting like a shinobi would.
But they could fight no longer. Their time on the battlefield was over. Now they just lazed around and have their daily brawls. Actually, it was not that much different on Earth. Only difference was that on Earth they could at least try to take over the world. "Try" meaning attempt and fail miserably before ending up in the Pure World.
"POP!" With a lot of smoke, some streamers and even colourful miniature fireworks which would make Deidara jealous, a parcel appeared. Seems like all the fancy stuff was just added in for fun.
But hold on a second, how on Earth did a parcel appear out of nowhere?
There was a label on the present. It read, "To: Pein, From: Tsunade"
"TSUNADE!?" Gasped the whole Akatsuki.
No one could believe it.
"So," said Pein calmly. "Should we open it?"
Silence. No one gave an answer.
Pein straightened up, saying, "Well, silence means consent. If there is a bomb inside…"
"But we won't get killed, un." Deidara interrupted (rather rudely, I might add).
"Silence, Deidara." Sasori whispered menacingly, waving his puppet tail at Deidara.
"I think we should open it." Every one turned to look at who had spoken, who so happen to be Kakuzu. He continued, "If there's anything valuable inside, we could sell it." The Akatsuki should have known. Death wasn't going to stop Kakuzu from being money-minded!
"Whatever you do, don't drag me in into it. Settle this issue by yourselves." Konan was still mad at the rest of them from letting her die in the hands of Tobi. I mean, it's Tobi. Who would want to die in the hands of someone who did not even take the job of capturing the tailed beasts properly? HOW did he even manage to enter into the Akatsuki? Konan was quite sure it was an error on Pein's part. But Pein, being something like a teenager with a God complex probably did not want to admit this mistake and so, just let Tobi in.
Kisame and Itachi stared at each other. It seemed as though they were having a staring contest to pass time. Neither of them bothered to give an opinion about the present.
Not wanting to be Tsukuyomi'd to the Impure World, The rest of the Akatsuki left them alone.
Before anyone could agree or disagree, Pein just ripped the paper to shreds… before finding a plate of cheese.
Everybody thought that Pein would eat it since it was his present and all. However, Pein stood up and offered the cheese to the whole Akatsuki. He asked, "Anybody wants cheese? I'm lactose intolerant."
(Back in Konoha…)
Tsunade smiled and said, "I hope Pein likes his gift, it's his birthday after all. Jiraiya, I have done what you asked me to do. May you rest in peace.
