Summery: Not much of a spoiler if the game is years old. Leafgreen/Firered. The championship battle! Rated T.

Rivals

Leaf quickly healed her pokemon. She knew her rival, Green, rather well, and now there's a forewarning, she took the chance to heal her pokemon.

Green, her rival since she was three, was pushing his pokemon to the max. She could tell in the falter in Lance's – the fourth elite – voice. She sighed and stepped into the champion's room.

"What's up?" Leaf yelled, giving Green a startle.

"Don't do that!" Green said, as Leaf was giggling while going into her battle position.

Leaf could barely hear the champion's speech – being that it was rushed and had a lot of errors in the grammar. She was in her own little world. When Green saw this, he sighed and summoned his Pidgeot. Its cry reminded Leaf where she was and what she's supposed to do.

The battle was intense and hard. Both parties used all of their medicines that they had. The battle had to stop for a few moments when Green's Rhydon created a earthquake that sent the roof down to the battlefield. Then Leaf's Lapras surfed, taking care of the debris, and the Rhydon.

The battle went on. Roars and cries of various pokemon came and went. Then it came down to the starter pokemon, Venusaur, and Charizard.

Charizard used flamethrower.

Venusaur collapsed, panting.

"Oh no!" Leaf cried, and she ran into the battlefield, she hugged her Venusaur, and cried.

Then all of a sudden, a bright light – brighter than the sun – blasted through the room. When it died down, Venusaur was up and roaring, and Charizard was down and out. Both trainers were stunned.

"Venus!" Leaf cried, "You mastered Solarbeam!"

Venus the Venusaur roared, Leaf giggled. Then the challenger's side door opened, and Prof. Oak walks in. Leaf called back her Venusaur, and returned to spacing out. Leaf watched the Pidgeottos and the Fearows fly around in the sky. Leaf squinted when she thought she saw a rainbow colored bird in the sky – but she shook it off when she thought it was Articuno's ice crystal-like feathers creating the illusion. She was broken out of her thoughts when Green said, "Gramps, it's no good, she's spacing out again."

Leaf followed Prof. Oak into the hall of fame. She spaced out again, thinking about what she saw in the sky, instead of listing to the professor lecture about how great this machine is and about how sacred the room is. Oak gave up in the end, and allowed Leaf to record/heal her pokemon.

As Leaf was exiting the indigo plateau, she notice Green and Prof. Oak talking to each other. She ran behind them and slapped them on the back.

"Last one to pallet is the Slowpoke." Then she started running, with Green behind her, and Prof. Oak laughing, he already knew who the winner's going to be. Leaf looked behind her, and saw Green catching his breath. She kept running, with the music of victory playing in her head.
