Bryce Larkin is dead. Again. And it would seem like this time it was definitive. Truth be told, that was also what he had thought the last time so… What if he hopes for history to be repeating itself ?

Bryce is dead. He might be in shock because that is the only thing running in his head. Of course, he'd heard Sarah cried and he'd seen Chuck going all kung-fu on the bad guy. But Bryce is dead and he isn't allowed to mourn. He can't mourn Bryce because the only thing that Chuck and Sarah know is that Casey killed Bryce Larkin once and that he hated him for being alive and so shouted him again for that.

Bryce Larkin is dead. Again. And this time John Casey was not the killer. John Casey had no reason to hate or to want to kill Bryce.

Bryce is dead and no one else knows the truth about him, about John, about their friendship. No one else knows about the three times John made love to Bryce. John had come to love Bryce really fast. For a CIA operative, Bryce was decent but what sealed the deal for John was the absolute abnegation of Bryce when it comes to protect his country and, well, those eyes of him weren't too bad either.

So John had loved Bryce and Bryce had seen right through John and told him bluntly that as much as he really liked John, he didn't love him –like being in love with him, and probably never would. He was then on a tangent about unfairness of love and life in general. Casey doesn't remember all of that conversation but some parts were engraved in his brain : "I'm so sorry John, you're such a good friend, a good man and, of course I love you man but I can't, I mean I'm not in love with you and it wouldn't be fair to you. There's so much lies in our life, I can't lie to you about that. I love someone, I've been in love with him since college and while nothing will ever happen with him, I just can't tell you that it's nothing. Because, John, if one day I'm face with the decision between his life and anyone else –even mine, I'll choose him in a heartbeat."

John remember asking Bryce why he was so sure to love that person, how he could know that he won't fall out of love and the answer Bryce gave him is the main reason John gave his phone number to Chuck : "I destroyed his life John, I destroyed his dreams and his trust in me. I will never see him again. I did it intentionally, I knew what I did. I love him so much that I made him hate me. He's safe now. No spy game or lie for him, just life. I love him that much John. I don't think that's the sort of love you ever forget about." John just thought that his love for Bryce wasn't the sort of love you forget either.

Bryce is dead. Again. After the first time, he understood that Bryce had been talking about Chuck and, now that he was dead again, John knew that the only thing Bryce would have wanted was for Chuck to be safe. So that's what John is going to do : protect Chuck. After all, Chuck is the only thing John had left of Bryce.
