Unlike Cedric, Theo was pretty unpopular. He had always kind of blended into the background. It was why it didn't really make sense that he was a Slytherin. Maybe his ambition to stay unnoticed made the hat sort him in the snake pit. It didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
There was no reason he should have contact with Cedric. The two of them are as different as could be. Slytherin versus Hufflepuff. Introverted versus extroverted. Distant versus friendly. Sullen versus happy.
Somehow though, when Cedric was busy worrying about his life during the Triwizard tournament, Theo became someone Cedric could vent to. Theo still wasn't quite sure how it happened.
Their friendship wasn't all roses, though. Theo found himself inexplicably jealous during the Yule Ball as Cedric danced with his perfect Ravenclaw girlfriend. And then he was inexplicably relieved when Cedric later told Theo that Cho was nothing more than a good friend.
After the second task, Theo asked, "Are you sure Cho is only a friend? I mean, she was the thing you'd miss most."
Cedric smiled at Theo, eyes saying something that Theo couldn't quite interpret. "I'm sure. I think she was only picked since she was my date to the Yule Ball."
Theo furrowed his brow. "That coincides with Krum and Granger but not the other two champions."
Cedric looked amused as he raised his eyebrows. "Well, Fleur had her little sister and everyone knows how close Harry and Ron are. I think the choices make perfect sense."
"Maybe," Theo grudgingly admitted.
"Anyways," Cedric continued as if Theo didn't say anything. "I think it would have worked better if you had been in place of Cho."
"Really?" Theo asked hopefully.
"Really," Cedric murmured and then leaned forward, claiming Theo's lips in a searing kiss.
Theo's inexperienced lips worked to keep up with Cedric's much more knowledgeable ones as joy suffused his heart.
When they pulled back due to a lack of oxygen, Theo panted as red filled his cheeks. "Wow," he murmured.
"A good wow?" Cedric asks.
Theo bit his bottom lip. "A very good wow. I didn't even know I wanted that to happen until it happened."
Cedric grinned. "I am to please."
"Can you please me some more?" Theo asked, already aching for Cedric's lips to press against his once again.
"Definitely." Cedric lifted a hand up and brushed Theo's bangs out of his eyes. He brushed his lips softly against Theo's, a quick peck and then a longer, far from chaste, kiss.
Theo groaned into it, wrapped one of his arms around Cedric's neck, making it so Cedric wouldn't be able to pull away.
They separated but kept close enough that they shared air.
"Very good wow," Theo said.
"Very good wow," Cedric agreed.
