People always noticed their fights, but most people didn't notice that their fights often revolved around a certain person: Harry Potter.
They united and divided over Harry Potter. Right from First Year, when Harry was threatened, Ron actually studied something extra outside of class with Hermione...just for Harry.
Often when they had a major fight it was over something Harry related. It was a sign of how much Ron loved Harry that he would almost always side with Harry against Hermione, the girl he loved, although Hermione only took her position out of deep concern for Harry's continued safety.
Even though Ron had a temporary fight with Harry in Fourth Year, Hermione told Ron what a fool he was being, and as soon as Ron realized how much danger Harry was in, he swallowed his pride. They supported Harry.
They supported Harry all through Fifth Year when he was the pariah of the Wizarding World and despite Harry's frequent moodiness. The second Harry wanted something Ron was on his side, fighting against Hermione, the voice of reason.
Sixth Year was the only time they had a real fight over a person other than Harry (Scabbers a.k.a. Peter Pettigrew didn't really count because they hadn't known he was a person at the time).
Yes, they both loved Harry, but neither loved him romantically. In terms of passion, they only had a fire for each other. They stood with each other in supporting Harry each in their own unique way.
Now they were having their final fight. Curses were flying through the air. Harry was entirely unaware of their silent battle of wills over who got to be the one to protect him. If it came down to it, and one of them needed to be sacrificed for Harry to go on, each of them was determined it was going to be them. Then the other could live on as well.
The fateful moment came, a burst of green light flying towards Harry. Even as they both darted to meet it, they battled with their eyes, telling the other to get away, I will do it, please live and be happy, when...they collided together.
As they fell together to land in a tangled heap together, their last thoughts... "Ronald, you fool..." "Hermione, why?"
The last fight was over. It ended in a draw. A draw of love.
