December 24, 1964
"Quiet everyone quiet!" Josie Grumby Haddock shouted over her two week old baby. "I thought I just heard on the radio that they think they found the Minnow!"
They had all returned to Hawaii for Christmas. The Howells had invited them to their mansion and they were currently having a Christmas party in the ball room. All of Josie's older children were there as well as the families of the crew and passengers of the S. S. Minnow along with the Flanagan's and Ginger's agent, Mr. Gasberg. Josie's husband Captain Brandon Haddock of the Coast Guard had just left the room to receive a call. Everyone in the room became quiet.
"Please forgive me folks!" The radio announcer replied. "The Coast Guard cutter has just picked up all the passengers and crew of The H.M.S Minnie Rowe who were marooned on the tropical island they were on for eleven years."
Everyone groaned as Brandon reentered the room shaking his head. Tears welled up in everyone's eyes. Nobody wanted to say what they were thinking out loud so as not to spoil it for the kids.
