There had been mutual respect first that led way to an unlikely friendship. She was helping him in potions and he used her to bounce of his theories. The friendship had somehow bled way to a relationship. They were completely in love and completely trusted each other, which made the words that Harry was saying unbearable to hear. Below them laid Dumbledore's cold body, with Harry murmuring a watery "It was Snape…" Hermione had a bad feeling in her gut. When Harry told the whole story right their surrounded by stars and fire, Hermione couldn't hold herself up anymore. Her heart was broken, her world shattered. He had traded sides, became the dark person she feared. Silent tears ran down her cheeks as she stared into the forbidden forest with shock, wondering why she still loved a man who had lied to her the entire time. It wasn't long before the broken sobs that shook her body set in.

Just on the forest edge, Severus had tears streaming down his face as he watched the people surrounding his mentor's body. Oh how he hated himself for what he was made to do. But the worst was watching his love, his angel, His Hermione being told what had transpired. The tears that ran down her red cheeks gave him pain worse than the Cruciatus curse. But what tore him apart was the look of betrayal in her eyes as she stared out to the forest. He dried up his tears and turn to leave, to follow his only path left. Before he left the forest he turned back to look at the beauty he would never see again and whispered "Forgive me".
