The Quest for Immortality
Anyways I decided to issue this challenge to hopefully inspire authors to write original stories . Here is the challenge :
As the title suggests the story should revolve around Naruto's obsessive urge to become immortal and the consequences surrounding the decisions he takes to make his dream a reality . Keep in mind that this Naruto has a family and a large part of the story revolves around how they are affected by Naruto's decisions . The set rules and stipulations for writing this challenge are :
This story should largely revolve around Naruto testing different theories to achieve his goal so for heaven's sake no instant immortality like his seal getting altered changing him into a demon or Naruto acquiring the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan or something similar .
Personality wise it would be more logical if Naruto was similar to Orochimaru in some respects . He should try to acquire as much knowledge as possible and be ready to kill his morals to some extent to accomplish his goals . Although to what extent he does that is all up to you .
Pairings , well I don't really believe pairings will be very conducive to this type of story although you may do as you wish in this department just no yaoi please .
It is also logical to assume that should people find out about his goals they will be naturally distrustful of Naruto (since they all had such a bad experience with Orochimaru) . So Naruto has to maintain a façade to hide his true intentions until his cover gets blown one day forcing him to flee and become a missing nin .
Some ideas for writing this story:
Where you take this story is entirely up to you although it would help the readers a lot if you explain why exactly Naruto developed such an obsession .
It could be that an unloved and ignored Naruto grew to love only himself and thus his attempt at gaining immortality is purely an attempt to not fade and be forgotten in the passage of time .
Or maybe Naruto's desire to gain immortality originated because of some self appointed task such as his desire to ensure peace exists in the shinobi nations for all eternity or Naruto's desire to learn everything about everything etc etc.
If you wish to put crossover elements into this fic you are welcome to do so.
