AN Adalaide is mine. The rest belong to Sci fi.. Syfy. But they just leave them there to sit even though they'd look awesome in a series.

I roll my eyes and growl. Glitch looks up at me and I glare at him pointedly. Glitch, being Glitch, just shrugs and goes back to munching on his cookie. I growl again and fiddle with the ridiculous hat.

"Uncle Cainy No!" Adalaide says bossily. "Hat stays."

"Yeah uncle Cainy." Glitch echoes the four annual old girl. "Besides, the pink flowers match your eye shadow."

I glare at Glitch as Adalaide pours more 'tea' into her cup. Don't get me wrong, I ... love the little squirt. Ever since Ahamo brought her back from the Realm of the unwanted. (Well he said she had been left in a basket just outside his tee-pee, but I thought I saw Ahamos dimples in her Airofday smile.) There s no denying it, she s got everyone of us wrapped around her little fingers.

I mean I 'm sitting in the garden of Finaqua wearing a flowery sun hat, across from Glitch in a ruffled blue apron. Not even a real blue color. A bright girlie blue. Being a well respecting guy, I don t know the proper term for it. Glitch calls it Baby blue.

"How is the tea party?" DG grins, coming out of her history lessons.

"Just dandy" I grind out. I know I should't take it out on the kid. But she was the one who got me stuck in this to begin with. Princess Adalaide had first begged her 'sister' to join her for tea. DG volunteered the services of Glitch and I in the duration of her lessons.

"Awe. Is Dinky Talking with his mouth full again?" She asks, shaking the teddy bear in the chair beside me. I roll my eyes and give her The Look.

DG Laughs delightedly. "DG, tea?" Glitch asks innocently.

"I'd love some" DG sits down and grins from Glitch to Adalaide

"Tea for Deejee" Adalaide smiles, filling her cup.

"What s going on here?" I freeze, instantly recognizing Jebs voice.

"Tea party!" DG Adalaide and Glitch reply in gleeful unison.

"I done gone fallen down the rabbit hole" I murmur as Jeb accepts a cookie from Adalaide.

"Must dresss." Adalaide says pointedly to DG and Jeb.

"Alright" DG nods, pulling on some beads and a few rings.

"Shooos" says Adalaide from under the table. I look to see her squeezing Jebs feet into a pair of reddish heels. Dg giggles at Jebs halfhearted protests and puts earrings on him .

"No DG these, they really bring out his eyes." Glitch grins gleefully handing her a pair of intricate silver dangle clip-ons.

"Yeah that s a nice shade of lipstick, Glitch." Jeb smirks. " Really makes your lips pop." DG giggles and slides on another bracelet.

"Oh don't think you re getting off that easy Princess." I feel a taught, malicious grin stretch across my lips. I pull a puffy red dress from the dress up closet. Glitch, Jeb and I hold her still, with a few small tickle fights and DG fighting half heartedly (knocking poor Dinky from his chair), we slip the dress on over her shirt and jeans. Adalaide giggles and claps as we all settle back to the tea party. Adalaide paints Jebs nails while Dg complacently braids Glitch s wild curls into pigtails. I shake my head with a wry grin and sip my tea.
As crazy as this little family of mine was, I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

Though in that minute, I wouldn't have said no to a good shot of whisky either.
