Silence of a Promise
There is beauty in every child's smile, and even though he is misled to believe otherwise, Sasuke can see the beauty in the smile of the demon child. The smile that is energetic, but behind it shows sorrow and loneliness. Sasuke tries to play, Sasuke tries to elope the other into happiness - families, and for a moment he wonders where the other boy's family is. When he asks his older brother, Itachi smiles down at him, slowly running his fingers through ebony spikes.
"It's not our burden to bear, little brother," Itachi whispers and Sasuke decides to, perhaps, pester the older one about it in the future.
For now, he watches the young Uzumaki child with sympathetic smiles, and as soon as the demon child turns to look at him, he huffs and turns his face away; and the other copies with a snarl. Smiles erupt onto both of their faces; and Sasuke darts closer to his older brother, hooking his fingers with Itachi's as he walks home.
Keeping to his heart, a silent promise that he will share his happiness with the demon.
