"So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn't know I was lost"
"Shaun? Shaun!" A young girl yanked the older one's ear buds out. "Shaun, Dad is talking to you." She said, putting the ear buds in her own ears. Shaun just rolled her eyes. "He's not our dad, Mary. He's just his replacement." She muttered, catching her mother and step-father's attention.
The older man frowned but quickly covered it up with a smile. "As I was saying... You three will really like it here in Jasper. Everyone here is friendly... it's safe for the youngster in the back.." He began. The older woman smiled, holding the man's hand. Shaun sighed and tapped her sister's shoulder, in which she responded by giving her ear buds back. "Are we there yet?" Mary asked. The man laughed and nodded his head. "just five more minutes and we'll be there." 'Finally.' Shaun thought.
Five minutes later, they pulled into the drive way of their new home. Shaun stepped out first and took a deep breath. "Well, we're not in Kansas anymore.." She said. "Hello!" A woman walked up from across the street. Shaun's Step-dad turned to her and waved. "Hello neighbor." The woman smiled. "I'm June Darby and i'd like to welcome you to neighborhood." she said. Mary Hid behind her mother as they began to chat. Shaun got bored and interrupted them. "Mom, can I explore the town?" She asked. Her mother nodded. "Be back by dark." She said sternly. "I will. Don't worry." Shaun said, rolling her eyes as she began walking to the town
After a long walk, Shaun spotted few places. 'Hm. KO burger. Plug and play. Grams bakery. let's see what building number one has in store' She thought as she walked to the KO burger. Outside was a red-headed boy, talking to a few girls. He saw her and stepped in front of her. "Hey. you new here?" He asked. "As a matter of fact, yes. What gave that away, Red?" She replied. "We're a small town. I know everyone here.." Shaun rolled her eyes and shoved him out of the way and walked inside.
