…Sadly enough, I have Hojo's feelings for a dear friend who will never love me like he does her…

Pairings/Warnings: one-sided Hojo/Kagome, Kagome/Inuyasha. Very sad and very realistic. Or: Very realistic, so very sad.

Hojo loved Kagome. He wanted to protect her, heal her, keep her safe… He was willing to do it all for her and more. Kagome didn't even have to love him back (and she didn't); she just had to let him help make her happy any way he could.

Hojo accepted the fact that Kagome loved someone else. He accepted the fact that he was no match for her secret love. Just because he was no match didn't mean he wouldn't keep on trying (however subtly), however. Though, he knew deep down that Kagome would never see him as more than just a dear friend.

Hojo vowed that no matter what, he would not try to come between Kagome and his rival for her heart. (He knew He didn't know they were rivals, and that fact didn't phase the love-struck teen.) He would even help their love blossom, if he could.

Hojo isn't some noble knight who will allow the princess to merry a foreign prince; he is merely an unlucky teen with unrequited love. An unlucky teen who will just sit on the side lines and cheer on the real players. Hojo only wants Kagome to be happy. He'll do whatever it takes to make sure she is. Even if it means giving her away to another man.
