A/N: I did NOT like the way they handled Michael Weatherly's departure, so I decided on an alternate ending! Depending on the response, I will upload more, or I may just leave it as is. If you haven't seen "Family First", turn back now!

True Love Never Dies

Tony smiled at the sleeping child in the seat beside him. Tali had slept most of the flight from Tel Aviv to Paris, and now they were preparing to land. He wasn't sure he was ready to face what awaited him, but he'd come too far now to back down. Leaving NCIS, returning to Israel, and now the trip to Paris.

I wonder what the team would make of this? He mused, thinking of the message he had been given. I can't go back, but should I tell them why? Gibbs, I bet he knows. But how the hell do I…

Tony's musing was interrupted by the announcement that they were descending into the airport. Tali stirred and yawned as she began to wake.

"Almost there, sweetie," Tony smiled. "I don't know quite what's going to happen when we land, but we're gonna find out together, won't we?"

"She's such a dear," smiled the elderly lady in the window seat. "Her mother must be a beautiful girl too."

"Yes, she is," Tony answered, hoping that the lady wouldn't say more. He was nervous enough. Fortunately, she merely smiled and gazed out the window as the plane landed and rolled up to the terminal. As he gathered up his sleepy daughter, he wondered yet again what would happen once he set foot in the terminal.

No time to think it through now he told himself. Come what may, you can't go back now.

After what seemed like an eternity getting off the plane and going through customs, Tony finally reached the area where families and friends awaited those arriving. As he quickly scanned the crowd, he saw the face he was looking for—the one he had feared he would never see again.

"Ziva."
