Only You Can Know

Step on the field
filled with emotion, derived
from deep within,
you never even knew it was there before.
You won't admit you love it, but you do
and no one could know what you know,
feel the way you feel.
Only you know what it's like.
You're a performer,
it's in your blood, your soul.
It's who you are and
who you always want to be,
The energy of those around you
swalls you whole and
you're overcome.
You start the show
and kick some major ass.
You hit the notes, the sets,
you hit the hearts of everyone there.
And you put your heart inot it
You give it everything,
everything you have.
And then suddenly, your feet close
it ends and the crowd cheers.
You take a few deep breaths,
smiling inside, knowing
you did your best.
Knowing that you had fun
and also that you've had
the time of your life.
And also, knowing that
if you don't win, it doesn't matter,
because you left it all out there,
and you have nothing left to give.
That feeling will stay, forever
etched in your mind
and in your heart.
