Chrissie sighed as her mother led her out of the hospital. She was, in all honesty, glad to get out and see her little brother again, as she had come from a check-up at the hospital, and she hadn't enjoyed it one bit.
She shrunk into her wheelchair as they walked through the park.
"I see your father now Chrissie! Would you mind waiting here a moment, I need to speak to him about something."
"Okay mum." The young girl sighed.
"Thank you sweetheart- I wouldn't be long."
Her mother parked her wheelchair near a park bench and went to speak to her husband.
She sighed as tears blurred her eyes. She hated being in a wheelchair! She wished she could play and run around with her brother, rather than be stuck telling stories!
A loud call of 'I'll get it!' brought her out of her thoughts.
A girl with red curly hair and freckles on her cheeks came towards her and claimed a football from near her wheelchair.
"Sorry about that- Penny's not great at sports." She explained. "I'm Lisa."
"I'm Chrissie."
Three other girls came round to see who Lisa was talking to. They became interested when they found out what had caught her interest.
"Chrissie, these are my friends Penny Jessica and Grace!" She elucidated as a mean of introduction.
"Hello Chrissie!" they all chorused.
"Hi..." Chrissie replied shyly, waving.
"What's with the wheelchair?" Jessica asked curiously.
"Well, I born unable to use my legs," she explained. "Mum and Dad, well, they have to do a lot for me to ensure I can get around."
"That must stink." Jessica commented.
"Well nothing can stink worse than Packbat!" Penny added and they all laughed.
"Wait- you've encountered Packbat? Does that mean you've all been to the Sylvanian Forest?" The wheelchair bound girl asked, staring at her new friends with wide, awed eyes.
"Yes we have-you too?"
"Yes!"
"So what did you encounter?" Grace asked her.
So Chrissie told them of her adventure with Preston's treasure detector and how Packbat had attempted to defeat them.
"Wow- that was amazing!" Grace gushed when the tale concluded.
"So what happened to all you guys?" Chrissie asked.
Jessica told their new friend of how she helped the families save two weddings and helped put out a fire; Lisa told her of her beauty contest and how she won an award for being beautiful on the inside; Penny mentioned how she outwitted Packbat by giving him gold- painted rocks and Grace told a tale of how she had defeated the evil villain by giving him a mail bag of rocks after he fell in a pit he himself dug up.
Listening to all this storytelling with rapt attention gave Chrissie an idea.
"I have an idea!" She said. "How about we get together, and write a book about our adventures? We can add more from others if we ever meet anyone."
"What a great idea, Chrissie! Where shall we meet?"
"What about here? We'll need a bit of time to plan everything." Grace offered.
This was also met with approval.
"Well, now that that's settled, we'll call ourselves the Sylvanian Kids!" Lisa declared.
They shook hands on it, and then they departed.
Chrissie never paid much attention to anyone asking about the appointment for some time afterwards, for she was giddy to share her adventures with her new friends!
