"We're moving." There was no wavering on that tone of voice, and Adrien knew it.
He sighed and glanced out over Paris, a city that while he'd live at his whole life, he did not know all that well.
"Why?" His only friend, Chloe, lived here since he'd never actually been allowed to go to school, and this was the home that his mother had last been in before whatever happened that had taken her away from them.
"There's been a bit of a fashion trend here and even overseas that might go well for you." He shrugged, "I've been considering it for a while now, and I'd like to see if I can come up with some working designs there and allow you to step into a whole new world of modeling. It will only be for a few short months, just enough time to get settled and get somewhere with the idea. The rest of it can be done back here or discontinued later." Gabriel Agreste seemed sure of the benefit of it anyway.
"Okay," Adrien sighed, wondering what all of this would mean for him once he'd been there.
"You will be going to public school there to make your modeling seem much more realistic in that setting, hopefully someone will teach you something, and besides it would be too much hassle to bring all of your tutors along. I will get you a temporary fencing instructor and your piano as well as Chinese tutors will be going with us. You're expected to keep up on that." Gabriel Agreste did not back down whenever he set his mind to something.
"Okay, thank you." Adrien still felt a little worried about leaving his home and moving somewhere completely different, but he'd always wanted to go to public school and make friends.
Chloe had ended up deciding to leave her father and venture with them to small town America in the hopes of staying close to Adrien.
Her father couldn't go with them however since he was the mayor of Paris.
It was a little surprising but not overly so that his only friend would be living with them; her room would be on the other end of the decent sized house that his father had prepared for them.
The plane ride felt excruciatingly long, like hours cooped up with nothing to do in first class; he hadn't really found any anime at all on the T.V. that the long flight was equipped with or any songs that held his attention for long.
Adrien had already narrowly avoiding being on the receiving end of a rant over makeup and hair led by his best friend before she grew tired after calling someone to complain when she noticed that Adrien had stopped listening and promptly fell asleep.
He was restless though, couldn't sleep a wink, constantly trying to find something to do and shaking with barely repressed nerves at other times.
His father was too busy working on his laptop and talking to Nathalie about work related things to pay him any mind, and he certainly didn't feel like jumping straight into long conversations in Chinese to appease his tutor or debate on some form of music theory with his piano instructor who was already talking to his Chinese tutor about something to do with Chinese music.
Adrien's new fencing instructor or temporary one anyway would be waiting for them at the airport when they landed.
His green eyes found the screen again, clicking the button to let it track where they were, before giving up with a weary sigh and switching back to the movies finding a few movies that he'd seen a while ago with Chloe but deciding to watch them anyway as a means of distracting himself.
To make matters worse though, he usually had to reject the food that flight attendants offered especially anything higher in calories.
His eyes closed halfway through the first movie, but he didn't manage to fall asleep regardless, just leaned back and listened while wishing that he could fall asleep.
Adrien couldn't wait for this long flight to be over.
