The Day Dreaming Incident
Sheldon Cooper, PhD, does not day dream. No, he was just thinking about other things besides work, more… personal things.
After an hour even, he still couldn't believe Leonard accused him of day dreaming about one Amy Farrah Fowler. Didn't he know that, like everything else, he was above such a distracting action as day dreaming?
And worst of all, Amy seemed to be on Leonard's side. So an hour later, Sheldon still sat on the couch, in his spot of course, wondering why on Earth everyone was against him.
Why did she care anyway? He didn't see the significance in day dreaming about ones significant other, he never did.
"Sheldon," Amy interrupted his train of thought. "Are you okay?"
Was he? Leonard told him to drop the whole topic, but to be honest, he wasn't sure if he could. It was bothering him, and he needed someone to talk to about it.
"Yes, Amy, I am fine. I do have one question for you though; can you come into my room with me? I need to speak to you in private."
There, if he could just get her alone with him in his room, things would go smoothly from there. Nothing had to happen. He just needed to remind her that he was not a hippy, and more importantly, that he was not day dreaming.
Amy looked confused to say the least, but followed him into his room without protest. He was glad for that, because he really didn't have further explanation as to why he brought her in his room.
"Sheldon, why did you bring me in here?" here comes the questioning. She looked nervous, like it had been her first time alone in his room with him or something. He wished he could ease her tension, but he didn't know how. Had it always been this difficult?
"Because, Amy," He said to her, his confidence starting out strong but soon wavering. "I need you to know that I wasn't daydreaming earlier."
Although Sheldon had no idea what he was expecting from her, what he wasn't anticipating was for her to just shrug.
"Okay," was all she said, and for the next few moments, both of them were silent.
"Okay," he repeated quietly under his breath. Okay? Was that really all that he got?
"Amy, isn't there something else you wanted to say?" God, what was he doing? It was like he was trying to get her to question him. He didn't want that, did he?
"Uhm… no, why, is there something else you wanted me to say?" Amy said with furrowed eyebrows. She didn't seem angry, just really confused.
"How about telling me that yes, I was daydreaming, yes; you and Leonard were right, and yes, it is impossible to stop thinking about you when you're not with me…"
And for a moment, all Amy could do was stare at him. Had he really said all those things?
"Did… did you mean those things?" Her voice quivered as if she would start crying any moment. Sheldon didn't like crying, he doesn't do weeping.
What she didn't expect was for him to move over to her in one swift motion and grab her face in his hands. Within moments, he had placed a gentle kiss on her lips that lasted a lot longer than he had anticipated.
When they parted, Amy had only one question.
"What was that for?" the surprise was evident in her voice, and for once in his life, Sheldon didn't have an answer.
So he just shrugged.
