In the last month of my 9th sweep, I joined the Summoner in his war against the Highbloods. I became one of his most trusted advisers, but I sought only his friendship. He was great and powerful, and he had and equally powerful Matesprit. While at first, he rejected her Cerulean hue, he came to love her, and she, him. Together, they were destroying the Hemospectrum brick by brick with his holy war. There was no stopping him.
One quiet evening when nothing was going on, I inquired about the Disciple.
"Summoner, have you ever sought the help of the Signless' Disciple?" I asked casually. He sighed.
"Yes, I have, many sweeps ago. But she was not as receptive of my war as I thought she would be. I explained my situation, my beliefs. I told her how I only wanted to carry the message of her Sufferer, how my only wish was to bring down the Highbloods that destroyed her family. She rejected this." He stared at the moons rising on the horizon.
-Flashback-
"This 'Holy War' you lead in Signless' name. I do not approve. Signless told of our world in peace. He preached that our planet could know tranquility, and that all the blood castes could live in unity. He never spoke of a war, holy or otherwise. Kankri would weep to see the destruction you have wrought on Alternia and it's people. And also, this phrase' 'Holy War'. It troubles me. It makes no sense. You lead a war in the name of peace and yet you do not recognize that that is an oxymoron. Have you even read Signless' scripture? Have you given it any thought? Summoner, you can take your weapons and your 'Holy War' and leave me alone, and if you dare to use the Signless' name in your war again know that his message is so drastic from your own that he would be forced to stop you. Leave me be."
-End of Flashback-
"Summoner?" I asked, and he started. He seemed to have been pulled out of a memory. However, his face revealed nothing important.
"I'm afraid," he said, rubbing his eyes, "That Disciple's years of monastic savagery and loneliness have turned her into a bitter hag. She will not be joining us in our war."
He stood up and left. I sat quietly and stared at the moons, thinking, wondering.
