Title: Give Me Love
Summary: After their breakup, Marceline winds up drunken at Bonnie's door. Uninhibited due to her drunkenness, she tells her what is going through her mind.
Author's Note: Set in AU in terms of being set in a more realistic setting. Inspired by the above picture "Give Me Love" by Tumblr user therebemorefoolery and by Tumblr user finn-theheroguy's AU in which Marceline can't keep her fingers off the booze. The picture is essential in that it also serves as exposition to this ficlet.
"Give me love," she whispered weakly as she let her hands sink into her lap, head slumping against the door.
Marceline had been totally wasted when she had first arrived at Bonnie's apartment door. But more importantly, she had been angry and upset. It had been her first time after their breakup to seek out Bonnie. She just didn't understand why Bonnie would break off their relationship. With alcohol rushing through her body, she had felt bold enough to confront her without fear of collapsing like a pathetic sobbing piece of misery.
To hell with your responsibilities! Lame excuses! It's me, isn't it? I'm your problem! I'm just not good enough for you anymore, am I? Well, sorry that I can't be as perfect as you, but for your information, princess: Normal people aren't perfect! If that's the reason, you should just open the goddamned door and tell it straight to my face! I can take it, yes, I can!
Speech slurred, Marceline had yelled and shouted, banging her fists against the firmly shut door. She didn't expect Bonnie to open the door. She wasn't even entirely sure if she was at home in the first place. Blind with emotion, she had vented her anger and frustration at the lifeless object in front of her, beginning to sound shriller as she continued.
You loved me! That was no lie, was it? It can't be a lie… Why don't you love me anymore? Why? Where did I go wrong? What did I do to turn you away from me? I don't even know. I don't understand… All I want is to… I just want to hold you…
Bonnie, I love you… Please love me… I need you to love me… I beg you, please…
Her angry screaming had slowly turned into desperate cries and finally into faint sobbing. Exhausted, she had sunk to the ground.
Now resting her forehead against the cool wooden door, Marceline had finally quieted down. She had stopped crying, leaving her eyes all red and raw. Her head was still spinning, but her sight was starting to clear up as her anger was now slowly fading and making way for feelings of an entirely different kind. Where frustration had raged before, disillusionment set in and filled her chest with an unspeakable emptiness.
