Set in the year 2042, an organization known as AMA has taken over Trancity and enslaved citizens in the Cloud 9 district by controlling them with Sound. However, there are a few citizens in Trancity who formed a rebellion against AMA and separated themselves into four different districts, away from the AMA Corporation.
The districts are protected by an unbreakable Sound barrier in which is powered by a generator hidden deeply within the depths of each district. Odyssey, the district that specializes in Noise Control, Cometh, the district that specializes in Sound manipulation, Oloris, the district that specializes in creating their own reality through Sound; and Paradox, the district that specializes in Sound weaponry.
In these districts there are schools which teach kids how to use their sound at a young age. The students are given selective missions to harness their Sound and learn how to control it. However, there are some who were born without Sound and those born without Sound are sent to an underground facility. This is due to the risk of their district falling to the hands of AMA, those born without sound are weak minded and cannot defend themselves against AMA's corruption. But there was one girl born without Sound who could negate AMA's mind control.
She had no parents but was under the care of DJ, a low ranked student of Odyssey. DJ tried to communicate with her, but the girl could not speak. After a few hours of asking for her name and other various questions, he gave up but noticed something strange about her. She couldn't speak because she didn't possess any Sound. Normally, people born without Sound are able to speak, but for the girl it was different. DJ paced back and forth, trying to figure out why the girl couldn't speak without Sound as she watched him silently. Then he had an idea, he opened his drawer picking up a pair of his very first headphones which had a built-in music player inside and placed them over the girl's head. Suddenly he began to hear a voice coming from the headphones on his own head, but his music player was off. At first he thought it was just somebody playing loud music from across the hall, but then he looked at the girl and saw that she was singing the song playing on her headphones. His eyes widened, he didn't think it was possible for him to be hearing the same song, so he took his headphones off and he could not believe what he saw.
The singing was coming from the girl, but when his headphones were off he couldn't hear her sing. DJ was very confused and put his headphones back on, upon putting the headphones over his ears, he heard her singing voice again. He could tell the voice was hers because she was singing the song as if she knew the lyrics to it, but every song on his very first pair of headphones had no lyrics. DJ pushed his headphones closer to his ears, not to hear the song, but to feel the lyrics coming from the girl's soul. From there, he knew why she couldn't speak without Sound. Her lyrics spoke to him as he felt the girl reaching out to him, telling him to be free and live life however he wanted. When the song was over, he lowered his headphones down to his neck and patted the girl's head. Short after, he gave her the name Musica because of her talent. To DJ, music wasn't sounds mashed together to make a song, or a group of people complaining about how hard their lives were. Music was a feeling, a sign showing you the way to freedom. Music through his eyes, was the savior of Trancity.
