Entry for "Divination" at "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Challenges and Assignments)"
Write a fic where (at least) two characters hold hands at some point. Can be a couple, friends, family, whatever, but they have to be holding hands. You can't just have them hold hands for no reason, however. You have to give the hand-holding some sort of purpose, whether it be taking it literally for this class by reading someone's palms, someone trying to get the other's attention, as an affectionate gesture, or whatever else you can come up with, it just shouldn't be a throwaway line.
Prompts:
:: Magic
:: King and Lionheart (by Of Monsters and Men)
:: Regulus Black
:: After all this time?
:: Destined for greatness
Entry for the "Hogwarts Fair 2014" - Minigolf
There's a couple snogging over at hole one and they're making plenty of unpleasant noises, throwing you off. You want to tell them to stop, but upon glancing up you realise that it is none other than Ginny Weasley and Dean Thomas. You're not sure what Ron will do if he catches them. Pay them 500 tokens to move away, or write about these two and move on.
I hope you like it, leave me your opinion :)
Ginny Weasley was sitting in the Gryffindor common room, a book in her lap, but she was not reading at all – her eyes were wandering over to the Golden Trio again and again, lingering over the figure of the one Harry Potter. The one who was destined for greatness... well, he may be, but he was not that clever all the time – how had he not been able to see how much she liked him?!
"Hey Gin," a voice distracted her from her thoughts about the boy she had had a crush on since she knew him and as someone leaned down and placed a kiss before sitting down in the armchair next to her she knew that it was Dean Thomas. Dean, her boyfriend. This sounded so odd to her...
"Hi," she answered, suppressing a little sigh that had been rising from that place in her chest where her damned heart was located, longing for the boy with the green eyes and the unruly black hair.
Ginny twitched as she suddenly felt how Deans fingers did glide over her palm to take her hand into his. She knew that he was trying to show her that he liked her, like he always did, and it surely was extremely dishonest, but all she could think about was how wrong it felt to hold hands with Dean.
Holding hands was supposed to be a sign of affection, a contact expressing feelings without words... but to her, holding hands with Dean felt like he was possessive of her, like he was claiming her as his. And even though he surely did not know that she was still not able to forget Harry it was as if he was showing the boy that she was not Harry's.
She was holding Dean's hand, Dean, who really liked her, he was telling her this nearly every day, but still she could not think about anyone else than Harry.
How would it feel if it was him, if his fingers were entwining with hers with a gentle pressure, how would she feel if it was his thumb that gently caressed her skin?
Ginny liked Dean, of course, she felt something more than friendship for him, but when she was with him her heart was not beating as fast as it was when she saw Harry, when he talked to her.
It was remarkable how such a simple gesture was containing so much meaning, how two palms touching could reassure Ginny that she was not with the right boy.
