A young girl stepped quietly out of her house, striding quickly to school. The sun was shining on her golden chestnut hair, causing the girl even more happiness. "School is so great," she thought, "My grades are awesome, my boyfriend is the best, and he's going to ask me to the school dance two weeks from now! I can feel it!" an almost-suppressed squeal of joy came from her.

She saw an upcoming cluster of girlfriends on her left and waved. One of the girlfriends waved back as the first girls phone rang. It was one of those happy Showtime tunes; that meant he was calling. The girl suppressed another giggle before she pressed the "pickup" button.

"Hello?" the girl answered

"Hey." The girl had to stifle a sigh. His voice was so dreamy!

"I don't really know how to say this… But, it's over."

"Wha…what?" she stuttered, "But I thought…"

He cut her off. "It's not easy for me either, but we have to break up. Goodbye." And he hung up. Giant brown eyes winced at the sound.

Then the girl froze. "No. No…it can't be…" She thought to herself. She started running towards the safety of her friends and pushed some other girl aside. She needed to talk about this.

Today is not a good day.

A young girl was pushed out of the house by an encouraging mother. "Go on to school, you'll be fine." Were her words. "Pfft" the girl thought, "When is anything ever fine?"

The sun was bearing down on her, making her greasy black hair burn. "Ugh. Just another day at school, where I have no friends, homework I could barely care about, and the daily torture of seeing my crush being hit on and dated. Why me?"

The girl grimaced at her thoughts. "Wasn't the nice girl supposed to get the guy instead of those attention-sucking harpies?" the girl swung her head left, and, exactly where they were every day, there was a cluster of girls. All of them were chatting admirably about nothing, possibly trying to outdo the others in speech. The girl smiled, "They are so funny when they get worked up over nothing." Another voice, high pitched, the girl noted, broke through her inner monologue.

"Wha…What?" the girl stuttered, "But I thought…"

Pale green eyes widened, "This was his current catch!" her shock faded into happiness. The girl smirked as she was shoved aside by her crush's ex-girlfriend. She needed to keep this to herself.

Today is a good day.

Yeah, this isn't that good. My Language Arts teacher ordered us to write a paragraph with a positive tone, and one with a negative tone. It wasn't until about halfway through that I thought this could be used for Avatar.

Review, or I'll make Suki cry some more! Really!
