DRENCHED [Incomplete]

Antonio stared at the person in front of him in shock. Arthur wasn't supposed to be at his doorstep; he was supposed to be home, nursing a cup of tea after being stood up by his 'date'. He wasn't supposed to be standing in front of the brunet, completely drenched and making no move to get out of the pouring rain, shoulders hunched and hair covering his eyes. Antonio felt a pang in his chest and he suddenly felt guilty about not going to the 'date' that he himself had set up.

Arthur laughed but it was hollow and devoid of any kind of emotion. It was just a sound, quiet but rung in the brunet's ears as if it was a loud bell. "I'm glad..."

The sentence took the Spaniard off guard. "What?" It was a soft mutter that went unheard.

"I thought for sure you've gotten yourself into some kind of accident," the Brit continued, a small smile appearing on his face. "I'm glad that isn't the case. I'm glad you're safe."

Antonio felt his chest clench painfully over his heart and he clutched it. Seeing that smile hurt and he felt like he was going to go deaf with the way the thumping of his heart assaulted his ears.

It wasn't supposed to go like this...

"That said," Arthur continued, a quiet sigh of relief escaping him, one that stood out from the loud thumping that rung in the brunet's ears, piercing his heart and leaving it to bleed. "I'll be able to sleep tonight without worry now. I'll see you around, Antonio."

Somehow, Antonio found that he hurt the Brit more than he should have and in the process, hurt himself too.
