I had fun writing the first installment of Unexpected, so I hope you people will enjoy reading it. I actually asked "What is your idea of unexpected?" around, to make sure I understand the meaning of unexpected (and I had lots of interesting answers). If you have any opinion about it, I would be glad to read it. :)

This is my first try on story with multiple chapters. Be nice, people. I welcome honest criticism and any mention of mistake is highly appreciated. No flame, please. Credits to Ice for proofreading. :) And I do not own Gakuen Alice. Words approx. ; 500

Unexpected by Writer's Lullaby

Prologue

She stared into the ceiling breathing softly.

We did it.

Closing her eyes as fear started to engulf her; she tried to calm her breathing which suddenly changed into a quick pace. After a few moments, her breathing once again settled down. Turning her head to the right, she studied the man's face. He was sleeping soundlessly.

His lashes were beautifully long, enough to make other women cried in envy. His nose not too high or low was perfect in her eyes. The blood red lips looked so peaceful, heaving small sighs as he breathed. Without realizing, her face was suddenly so close to his. Strands of his jet hair touched her forehead. It feels so soft and silky, she thought, letting the sensation filled her. Suddenly, his right hand hugged her waist and his head snuggled into the hollow of her neck.

Gasping, she immediately tried to free herself from his body without thinking the act would also woke him.

"Huh, what's wrong?" he said, voice sounding husky at the same time releasing his hand off her waist. Slowly, he opened his eyes, trying to grasp his surroundings. When his eyes set upon her; who was standing at the edge of the large bed, she was holding the comforter to her chest. She looked so mortified, her face so red, eyes boring a great depth and she was biting her lower lip.

For mere seconds, he was confused on what was happening, and then realization dawned him. He sucked a great deal of air, "We did it, right?" Flashbacks of images played in his head.

The long talk.

The emotionless laugh.

The hopeless voice of hers.

The sad sound of her cries.

And most of all, the hot passion they shared.

Guilt filled him, how could I do that when she was feeling so sad? I used her. He looked into her who was trying to make sure the comforter she held would not show any figure of hers. "Look, I didn't–" his words were cut off.

"Don't." Her voice sounded so sharp and cold. "Let's just think of last night as a mistake. You were tired and I was mourning," she paused, looking to the direction of the door. "Of course, such thing was to be expected."

His heart broke. "What? Surely it meant some–"

"Don't," once again, her voice was so sharp. "Surely you are not fooled? That didn't mean anything. We were merely trying to help ourselves." Before he could give out a reply, she cut him off and said, "Well, I guess that's all? Now, if you would excuse me, I need to take a bath. I promised Hotaru to meet her at 9 am; you do know how punctual she is."

She talked with a really sweet voice, defences up. The barriers were made again. She rebuilt the wall she always used around him. She talked as if nothing happened. Although she sounded like she was in glee, there was that emptiness sound in her.

He sent her comforter-clad body into the bathroom with his eyes. The door closed and so did his eyes.

What just happened there? he thought.
