Amy Cahill was sitting in her bedroom, listening to music. Only a few days had passed and it was the first time after the clue hunt that she had managed to stay alone. The song now playing was: If Today Was Your Last Day by Nickelback.

During the clue hunt she had understood many things about herself. What if today was her last day? She had understood that each day was a gift and not a given right. She had almost died many times. She had looked everywhere searching for clues. She had left her fears behind to make Grace proud. She had taken paths which had been taken only by special people. Her first step, accepting the clues challenge, was the longest stride in her life.
But she wasn't ready to say goodbye to her life. She couldn't leave her brother alone. Definitely, she would try to leave each moment as if it were her last one. She would never leave old pictures in the past. It would be impossible for her to forget all the deaths she had witnessed. It would be difficult for her to forget Ian's betrayal. She had one million $ to donate, but she'd prefer to give them to Dan. Were the clues and their Lucian-Janus-Tomas-Ekaterina-Madrigal relatives worth to die for? Amy wasn't sure. During the hunt she had learnt to be in a hurry. She always had to be first, to be before her enemies. There wasn't a second try. Now should she have fun? And what about the V? Who was the V? Could she return to school with her old friends? Maybe…
If today was her last day she wouldn't reminisce her memories from the past, most of them were bad. She wouldn't forgive her enemies. No, she couldn't forgive those ones who made her suffer, those ones who killed her parents, those ones who tried to kill her. And why should she find the one she's dreaming of? Why should she make him love her and then hurt him by dying? She wouldn't swear that she would fall in love because she wouldn't. There would be no use in doing it. If today was her last day she would try to apologize for all her mistakes. Probably it wasn't too late to shoot for the stars but she was just a shy "peasant" as her rich cousins called her… Finally, she would do whatever she wanted 'cause life is too short to be wasted. She wouldn't let anything stand in her way to happiness. Amy began to cry. This song reminded her the past so much. Suddenly, the door opened. It was Dan. He quickly realized that his sister was crying.
"Why are you crying?" he asked
She wanted to scream that she was crying because of the past. Instead she said: "I just read a very moving book"
