Ichigo woke up with a yawn when the bright Sunday's sunlight said hello to him through the window. He scratched the back of his head, got up, and cracked one eye open. It was a very warm morning with the birds chirping, but he felt so lonely. The world around him was so peaceful and quiet, but he felt so empty. And he knew why.

He growled and frowned. It has been two months since he beat Aizen, since he recovered from his injuries, since he lost his power. Since the last time he saw her. And he missed her a lot.

Her enchanting violet eyes, her petite body, her raven hair, her small lips, her slender and yet strong arms, her beautiful snow zanpakuto, her fresh lily scent. Her insults, her jokes, her smacks on his head, her gentle strokes on his back whenever he was feeling down, her comforting voice. He missed all of that. He missed her. He missed Rukia. A bazillion lot.

Ichigo sighed and glanced at his closet with its closed door. She used to sleep there whenever she came to the Living World. Now the closet was empty. As empty as his own heart when his eyes couldn't see her anymore. He could only ask her to give his best to everyone, without breaking eye contact with her, realizing the fact that her figure was slowly fading away. His heart sank deeper when her figure finally disappeared from his sight. He could only murmur 'thank you' without telling her the words he was dying to say. She told him not to be so down, because she could still see him even though he couldn't. He just smiled, but knowing fully how much it would pained him when he couldn't see her. His most important person.

Ichigo chuckled. He didn't know how, why and when, but he knew he had fallen for the Kuchiki hard. He realized that the Kuchiki shinigami held a special place in his heart, and no matter what he did, he couldn't replace her with anyone else. Besides, he wouldn't replace her with anyone. He felt complete when he knew he loved Rukia with all his heart. He wouldn't change his feelings for her. Ever.

"Ichi-nii! Breakfast!"

Ichigo snapped out of his thought when Yuzu's cheerful voice said hello to his ears. He sighed one more time and finally got out of his bed. He walked closer to the closed closet and put his forehead on top of the sliding door.

"Good morning, Rukia." he whispered, before he got out from his room to have his breakfast.

It was another peaceful day at the Soul Society. The sun was brightly shining, with blue sky and white clouds. Apparently, after Aizen's defeat, there were no more serious problems. Except for slaying hollows that kept busying the soul reapers. Nevertheless, it was quite peaceful.

And the lieutenant of the 13th barrack was enjoying it. Rukia Kuchiki was busy taking care of her paperwork, as usual. Seeing her captain was resting in this kind of time, she decided to ease the captain's work by taking care some of his paperwork too. She did her best to keep her mind and hands busy, so she wouldn't bother to take care of another thing. The ache in her heart. No, she didn't have any heart problems (she was dead already, and she was a healthy shinigami), the ache in her heart was caused by something else. The ache for missing someone so bad.

And it repeated over and over again. Even though Rukia told herself over and over to not think about the orange haired substitute soul reaper, she couldn't help her own mind from drifting off. Remembering his hair, his muscular body, his gentle eyes, his smirking, his bad jokes, how he was always managed to irritate her somehow. His desire to protect everyone he cared about, his enormous power to support his desire. Gosh, she missed Ichigo a bazillion lot.

She knew the Kurosaki boy couldn't see her anymore, seeing the fact he had lost his power already. But she could still see him. And even though her mind told her to not see him so her heart wouldn't shatter, she just whisked it away. She came to the Living World whenever she had a spare time, enjoying her entire day looking and staring at Ichigo. Sighing happily when he laughed with his friends, trying so damn hard to not cry and just suppressed the growing ache in her heart.

And she basically never kept her eyes away from Ichigo. She enjoyed every moment he had with his friends even if she felt rather lonely without him beside her.

When the night fell, she would just stand outside of his window, contently looking at his chest steadily up and down as he breathed, wishing him a good night, and returned to her barrack to rest. She would dream of him, especially when she felt really lonely.

Rukia stretched her hands and sighed, now her paperwork were completely done. She closed her eyes, picturing Ichigo's face in her mind.

"Good morning, Ichigo." she whispered.

Ichigo lied down on his bed, enjoying the moonlight. He put his hands behind his head and breathed the night's air. He opened his window so he could feel the gentle breeze. He glanced at the closed closet and sighed. He decided to just sleep, picturing Rukia inside his mind, hoping he would dream of her. Maybe he couldn't see her at all, but he couldn't forget her. Her face and her figure were completely stuck inside his brain. Maybe he couldn't see her anymore, but at least he could see her in his dreams.

"Good night, Rukia." He glanced at his closed closet. He closed his eyes and sleep started to take him away.

"I wish you were here, Rukia." he whispered the same sentence he had been whispering every night before he went to a slumber.

Rukia fidgeted a little. She hadn't seen Ichigo all day today, because she was so damn busy. Even so, she couldn't sleep without seeing his face at all, so she decided to visit the Living World for a bit. She just need to take a glance of him, and she knew she could sleep tight.

But, could she really do this? She didn't have any solid reasons for coming here, she just wanted to see Ichigo. Hell, if her captain, or worse the captain-commander, or worst her brother, knew that she had always been visiting the Living World without any orders, she was a dead meat. Then again, she couldn't stop her urge to see the orange haired boy.

She crossed her arms in front of her chest and cursed. Whatever! She missed Ichigo so hard, who cares about rules! And with that, she shunpoed to Ichigo's house, stunned when she realized he had left his window open. Normally, he didn't do that.

Biting her lower lip and gulping down her doubts, she entered his room through the opened window. She landed softly on Ichigo's bed, created no sound at all. She sat on his window's frame and watched silently as he breathed.

For some reasons, she couldn't stop herself from touching him. She softly knelled down beside him on bed, and stretched her arm. She ran her slender fingers on his hair, and finally she placed her hand on his cheek. Her thumb gently stroke his cheek and Ichigo shifted.

"Rukia.." he whispered.

Rukia froze and almost cried upon hearing the one she loved called her name. She fought the urge to kiss him and just gently brushed his cheek with her thumb.

"Rukia.." Ichigo whispered again. "Don't go."

This time, a tear fell down from her violet eyes. She bit her lip to prevent any sob came out, even though she knew he couldn't hear her. Ichigo's eyebrows knitted, as Rukia kept stroking his cheek gently.

"Don't go, Rukia.." he whispered. "Don't leave me."

Another tear fell down but Rukia kept stroking Ichigo's cheek.

"Don't leave me, Rukia.." he whispered one more time. "Stay by my side."

How she wished she could do that! Of course, without a doubt, she wanted to stay by his side! She kept stroking Ichigo's cheek, gentler this time. He sighed contently.

"I love you, Rukia." he whispered.

Rukia froze again. What did he say?

"I love you, Rukia." Ichigo whispered, as if to convince her. "I love you so much."

Another tear fell down and this time Rukia let her sobs slipped out.

"Don't go, Rukia."

As much as she wanted to stay, she knew she couldn't. Their worlds were far apart, and they were practically different. He was a living being, and she was a dead person. She knew she shouldn't let herself fall in love with him, but she couldn't help it. She loved Ichigo so damn much.

How come love could jump over the boundary that was placed between them? How come the two of them, two entirely different beings, fell in love so deeply? She chuckled softly, and finally put her other hand on Ichigo's other cheek. She looked at his sleeping face with a smile, tears still falling down. She bent down and kissed his forehead, leaning to his ear, and whispered back.

"I love you too, Ichigo. Stay alive."

Ichigo sighed contently and Rukia placed another kiss on his forehead. Then she stood up and leaped out of the window. She turned to see him one more time, before she went back to the Soul Society. She knew she would have a really pleasant dream tonight.

"Good night, Ichigo." she whispered.
