Everyone who went to Dalton Reform Academy knew how protective Shane was of Reed. He never let the petite boy out of his sight, and the last person that upset Reed...well, nobody talks about that. However, just because Shae liked to take care of Reed, that didn't mean that Reed needed to be taken care of.
Reed could look after himself. People just had a tendency to forget that.

Reed had just come out of the choir room, and was on his way back to his dorm, to meet Shane. Shane hated it when Reed had to navigate the corridors of Daltoon by himself, and sometimes even went far enough to have the Tweedles keep an eye of himbetween classes. Sure enough, Reed heard the distinct scuffle of shoes against the rough concrete floor.
Wait.
That wasn't the Tweedles.
Or Dwight.
It wasn't Blaine either.
"Hey, gorgeous, where's your boyfriend?" The stranger called.
Reed smirked as he turned around, only to find that his would-be attacker had closed the gap between them, so they were only standing a metre or so away from each other.
Reed looked at the other boy, vaguely recognising hm. Stuart. Sophomore. But apart from that, Reed didn't know much else about him.
The other boy stepped forwards, raising his hands to shove Reed, but before he could, Reed had drawn his small switchblade and pressed it against the Stuart's throat.
"Woah, calm down, sweetheart. You should put that knife away, otherwise I'll have to hurt you. I'll mess up you face; it'll be a shame though, it's such a pretty face, after all."
There was a brief pause.
"Not so brave without your boyfr-"
The Stuart way swiftly cut off as Reed slammed his fist into the side of the boy's face, followed with a punch to the stomach. Once he had keeled over with the force of the punch, Reed brought his elbow down on the back of the boy's head.
Reed's attacker fell to the floor, unconscious. Reed smirked again, pocketing his knife, turning around, only to find a Shane staring at him, a small smile on his lips. As soon as he saw his boyfriend, Reed's smirk turned into a grin, and he practically ran into Shane's arms.
"That was actually kind of sexy, y'know."
Reed giggled, pressing his lips against Shane's in a fierce kiss. Shane skimmed his hand up and down Reed's back, pulling the closer as Reed gripped Shane's hair. Shane nipped at Reed's bottom lip before pulling away.
Shane looked at Reed, who was breathing heavily, cheeks flushed, with his shirt riding up slightly. There was a stark contrast between this Reed and the Reed that had just beaten up another student.
Shane didn't mind, though. In fact, he actually sort of loved it.
