Introduction:

Hey! This is my first fanfiction, hopefully all goes well. This is just going to be a one-shot so it's nothing to commit to.

This scene takes place between the episodes "The Ember Island Players" and "Sozin's Comet Part 1". It is about Aang and Katara. Enjoy! 3

Aang sat on the rough sands of Ember Island beach. The waves moved predictably up and down the coast. Though the setting sun looked beautiful along the restless water, Aang could only think of Katara.

He couldn't believe what he had done the night before... She said she was confused... So why did he kiss her? Why had he been so blind to her emotions? Aang sighed deeply, and collapsed backwards on the sand behind him. He wanted so much to be with Katara, but she wasn't even sure if she loved him or not.

Aang realized that there were more important things to think about, but it made him nervous to think of anything else. Aang sighed again and under his breath whispered, "I love you Katara..." Just as he said this, something shifted in the sand.

Aang bolt up and turned around, expecting the worst. In front of him stood Katara, hair flowing and face a powdered red.

"Oh! Katara! Hi!" He blushed and put his hands behind his back. "How long have you been out here?"

Katara smiled lightly and looked to Aang, "Long enough..." She sat in the sand next to him.

Aang turned beat red as he sat down. He put his head into his palms. He tried to change the subject, not wanting to bring up what had happened the other night. "So... Katara... What brings you out here?"

"Well, I wanted to talk to you about the other night..." She took Aang's hand from his face and held it softly in hers. Aang slowly raised his head and looked at Katara, who was smiling kindly at him.

"Katara, I am so sorry I did what I did... I should have thought about it before acting on..." Aang was suddenly interrupted by a warm embrace. "Aang, It's okay. I just wanted to tell you... that I do feel something for you. It's just not the right time for relationships right now..." She smiled at him. "Right now we need to focus on defeating the Fire Lord..."

Katara held his face in her hands and kissed him lightly on the lips. "Don't believe what you heard in the play we saw. It isn't accurate." Aang looked into her eyes and smiled.

"Okay Katara..."

They sat together as the sun was setting. The night grew cooler and eventually, Katara let go of Aang's hand, which left Aang disappointed but happy for the time he had.

He watched her as she slowly got up and started to walk. She turned around and let out a light laugh. She held out her hand for Aang. "Are you coming?"

Aang jumped up and grabbed Katara's hand. They walked back to the house together. Even though the wind blew coldly, the warmth in both their hearts radiated around them. They were warm...
